Mei Niang loses her baby: Her transition

Spoilers for Empress of China!!! It starts the little brat of a child, Consort Xiao’s son Su Jie picking on one of the other princes. Zhong Er and Su Jie were sword fighting, Zhong Er wins but Su Jie is a little brat and picks on him, and makes Zhong Er let him win. Zhong Er has no status because he’s the baby of a servant that slept with the Emperor (c’mon Li Zhi, you’re ruining my OTP needs).

Secondly, even though I don’t support it in this era, it’s polygamous… aka tons of beautiful women.

She’s allowed to leave on Princess Gao Yang’s birthday, after her dinner. Meanwhile, Princess Gao Yang is not over the death of her lover, and she blames Zhang Sun Wu Ji.

There’s this scene where the servants gossip about the Emperor, Empress, Mei Niang, and Consort Xiao – about how he only loves Mei Niang, and Consort Xiao is losing – the Empress never had a chance. The Emperor hears all of this, and helps the Empress save face by inviting her for a walk.
