千金女賊 LADY AND THE LIAR EPISODE 19, 20 RECAP/REVIEW SYNOPSIS AND SUMMARY + 21 TRAILER

Worst stage ever

I decided to go ahead and just write what I thought about the newest episodes because I have so many feels right now. I usually don’t do this but my curiosity got the best of me so I started clicking into trailers of Lady and the Liar. These trailers had a surprisingly element of spoilers and details and now I really regret that I started this drama. I’m too attached to all the characters. Damn you, Chen Yu Shan! First you ruined Lan Ling Wang, and now you’ve done your evil with this one. She always does this thing where she dedicates a lengthy first part of a drama to establishing the OTP in your heart, and then she introduces a million obstacles between the OTP. Most dramas are like that but Chen Yu Shan – she’s very good at her job. She makes me curse every obstacle that sets the OTP apart, and sometimes Chen Yu Shan is so cruel that she even kills off one of the leads in the end. I swear to god, if this is a tragedy… my heart will not be able to handle it. I just want everyone to have a happy ending but after watching a million detailed trailers, I can sense that this will be a torturous drama with a ton of obstacles and feels. God I should have just stuck to TVB dramas. Even though I like the female lead right now, I can tell I’m going to hate her fast because she’s one of the obstacles keeping her and Bai Lang apart. I can also tell that I’m going to hate Jie Wen too.

So in the drama we’re past the honeymoon stage at this point – where the OTP have had so many cute and romantic moments together, and we get addicted to it. We keep watching and crave for more cute and romantic moments, and this is what fuels us to continue watching. To me, this is probably the best part of the drama.

But unfortunately, there’s also the second stage of the drama that I have creatively and affectionately have dubbed “The Worst Stage Ever”. This is the part where obstacles are thrown towards our OTP, separating them and keeping them apart, and breaks them down little by little. Ladies and gentlemen, we have reached the ‘Worst Stage Ever’.

The episode starts very cute with Jiang Xin and Bai Lang visiting the Ye family. They ask Mama Ye to become their witness to their wedding. I wish they would just get married and stop the drama there. I would be totally fine with that. But nope, we’re on a train, headed to the ‘Worst Stage Ever’. Mama Ye adopts Jiang Xin as ‘God-daughter’ and they had a very cute mother-daughter moment.

Meanwhile, Mama Ye is being poisoned to death slowly by Ye Xin. Ye Xin is forced into poisoning her mom secretly and slowly by Tang Hu. She killed the pawnshop owner, Grandpa Ye, and Papa Jiang. I don’t understand why she hasn’t killed Tang Hu yet. He’s so despicable and he’s forcing her to do something that she doesn’t want to do. I hate Ye Xin. She’s spineless, evil, and jealous.

Ah. Now we reach destination ‘Worst Stage Ever’.

The newspaper owner tells Jie Wen of Shi Guan’s real identity, which is Jiang Xin. They found out because the shop owner was the one conveniently the one that they chose to develop Jiang Xin’s wedding pictures, Jiang Xin’s newspaper photo with Bai Lang, and the owner was coincidentally the one that took a picture of Jiang Xin and Wen Jie during their date. So many coincidences eh?

I guess it pays off to be a creep

And this is possibly the last sweet scene that we’ll see of Jiang Xin and Bai Lang. They’re so cute together – he asks her to never leave him no matter what, and Jiang Xin reassures him that she trusts him 100%, and that she’ll never leave him. Can’t we just leave it as this? Can they just get married and live happily ever after? I can’t bear to see them apart.

Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 9.39.24 AM

After finding out that Shi Guan is Jiang Xin, he crazily steals someone else’s motorcycle and reckless drives down the street and crashes it. It’s not ok to be irresponsible and steal, ok?!

Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 9.45.42 AM

He’s at the Bai mansion. He has his arm out (in the screencap) the whole time, but we never see what he’s holding in the version I watched. Which is really weird to leave out. Thank god I watched a bazillion trailers to figure out that he was actually holding someone hostage in order to get into the Bai mansion – which makes sense because the Bai mansion must be heavily guarded, right? I wonder why they cut it out. It creates a huge plothole, and he looks so awkward just holding his arm out the whole time.

He tells Jiang Xin the whole truth and tells her that she has been the one he’s been looking for the whole time, and shows her the old picture as proof.

STOP TOUCHING HER

Bai Lang must be going crazy at this point

Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 9.50.31 AM

#unimpressed

Bai Lang admits that he was lying the whole time in a very sad scene. He tells her that he couldn’t be without her. She’s brought so much happiness and joy into in his life. But she couldn’t accept that he lied to her. No matter what, she loves him right now, and the people of the Bai mansion – I wish she would just forgive him and try to work it out.

Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 9.53.37 AM

She leaves him, and goes to pick up the injured Jie Wen and leaves.

I am so sad for Bai Lang. She’s his everything, and she leaves with another guy. That must be such a blow to his ego, and to his heart. Damn you Chen Yu Shan!!! Why must you do this?! Why can’t you let them just be happily together?!

Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 9.57.33 AM

DON’T LEAVE 😥

Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 9.58.37 AM

All her ‘family’ at the Bai mansion tell her that they’re very sad to see her leave. They tell her that she’s brought so much laughter into the mansion and has changed the whole atmosphere. She’s also changed Bai Lang into a happier person. They all try to get her to stay but she wouldn’t. I just wanted to smack her – do you know what you’re doing?! What matters is now, the present! It doesn’t matter who you loved back then, it’s who you love now!!! I swear you’re going to realize this when it’s too late.

Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 10.00.30 AM

They go back to Jie Wen’s place and I’m already dying in this ‘Worst Stage Ever’ because I can’t stand to see her with the second male lead instead of Bai Lang. Jie Wen tries to help her to get her memory back, and gives her the magical box that her and her father used.

Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 10.05.36 AM

Meanwhile, back at the mansion, they try to hide the fact that Jiang Xin is gone. The first rule of ‘Worst Stage Ever’ is that anything that could go wrong, will go wrong, so Ye Xin conveniently finds out that Jiang Xin has left Bai Lang, and uses this to plan against her.

Ye Xin and Tang Hu work together to plan against Jiang Xin. They hire a prison guard that Tang Hu used to know that is so cruel that many workers died under her watch. They plan to murder Jiang Xin with this new supervisor.

mmmmmmmph

Meanwhile there is sprinkle of a lovey/coupley scene where Chun Hua intentionally loses Jiang Xin’s engagement ring, and gets Jiang Xin to go retrieve it, to fool her into seeing Bai Lang.

Omg, thanks for recapping the latest episodes, and please please continue . I’m putting off watching this series until I know for sure it’s going to be a happy ending. Prince Lan Ling Wang nearly killed me with the ending and I can’t bear to go through it again. I’m like you, praying it’s going to end well. 🙂

OMG I don’t think his lie is that bad to be throw away like that. It isn’t his fault she lost her memories and he took care of her this whole time. I hate female lead like that >.< I feel that she is yet again another typical goody two shoes character..( I like the actress though)

Sigh I can tell she is the typical Mary Sue that always gets hurt and need to be protected all the time -_- I think the actress is very pretty too, but I hate how the writers made her into such a weak and naiive character.

I guess different uploader have different cut part of the drama. I watched the youtube version one and it has different cut with the one that you’ve recapped here. The youtube version have uploaded until ep 18 while it’s already ep 20 in maplestage. I got confused on which one to watch. Anyway, thank you for the recap, watched raw because of Hawick Lau although my Chinese is very very bad 😛

I had the same problem with Empress Wu too! I think it’s because Chinese dramas are shown in different regions and they have different time slots and regulations..

I may be in the minority but I couldn’t wait until she left Bai Lang. I haven’t seen a lot of their cute moments together but the life she’s living is a lie. He lied, plain and simple to keep her next to him, he seems controlling as well. I know this is a drama and Bai is the bad guy turned good because of her but I think it’s really sad her father died and she wasn’t able to bury him properly. She loved the second lead in the beginning and Bai was the creep in the mafia/gangster business who wouldn’t leave her alone. I’m biased towardsthe second lesd bbecause that’s who she chose to love of of her own free will. She wasn’t lied into loving him.

I know… during that moment I was really sad when her dad died… but I think that Bai Lang felt a lot of guilt when that happened, and he tried to make up for what he did… He did lie to her initially but all of his actions proved that his love for her was true 😥 I’m still on team Bai Lang because I think i shifted all blame on Du Xiao Han
