相爱穿梭千年 LOVE WEAVES THROUGH A MILLENNIUM EPISODE 9, 10, 11, 12 RECAP/REVIEW SYNOPSIS

Dear drama, I am officially sick of your shit

So, this isn’t a conventional objective recap blog, it’s also a review-drama blog. And since it’s personally written by yours truly, I can be as biased as I want.

Essentially I am preparing your eyes for a shit-fest on the past four episodes because I am very sick of its shit. It’s been so badly made and unimpressive. So I am going to highlight all the main things that has happened but mostly it’s going to be a shitfest.

Prepare for the storm.

First thing, I am sick of Jing Jie’s exaggerated acting and character. It was entertaining at first because I thought she only had that annoying ‘yelling’ voice on only during certain scenes, but now I realize that’s permanent. I don’t know if I’m impressed or unimpressed with how her mouth contorts with every exaggerated syllable but I can’t look away.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.32.07 PM

I literally look like this every time she opens her mouth

Anyways where we left off, Gong Min leaves for 2000 years later. Jing Jie tries to woo Jing Xiu who is Han Yu Fei’s temporary manager. I would like to just spoil that we go full circle in these four episodes. We make like a train and literally make a loop around to the initial terminal station except now the whole f*cking drama is a lot more complicated and makes a lot less sense. Nothing important happens in the next four episodes. It’s like my first year English term paper with its filler BS, except in drama form.

So as I said,it’s more of a review more than a recap, because I can’t seem to be able to highlight significant things that add to the plot because they… don’t.

Han Yu Fei tries to get back together with Xiang Xiang. She refuses. That is all. Seriously.

So we see what happened in the trailer. Gong Min suffers an assassination attempt and the jade is broken, which causes him to lose all his memory. Since the jade flew out of his pocket, he suffered from his assassin’s stab and goes into a coma. Simultaneously, Xiang Xiang gets into a car accident as well (because you know, fate) and miraculously only suffers from a conveniently small wound even though she crashed face-on to a van. But, drama.

She realizes that she’s the only one that remembers Gong Min, and he’s erased from her life. Every part of her memory with him is erased, and they’re replaced with alternative realities. For example, during that time when Gong Min and Xiang Xiang were in Hang Zhou, she was actually with Han Yu Fei. She confirms this through phone pictures and surveillance camera footage.

Also, in this alternative reality without Gong Min, she had gotten back together with Han Yu Fei.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.39.07 PM

Gong Min loses all his memory except everyone else doesn’t in the past, which is complete opposite of Xiang Xiang. What he’s done isn’t reversed either, which is weird. I will touch on this weirdness more later.

Additionally, since he forgot Xiang Xiang, he asks Ying Yue to marry him, which she’s like totally on board (since the drama’s made it so damn clear that she’s got a thing for him since the beginning).

I just wanted to point out that I really notice Zheng Shuang’s botox in her chin in these past few episodes. Maybe she re-injected during this period of filming?

Anyways, Wang Mang has a meeting with Gong Min about his reinstated title as a chancellor to the Emperor. Wang Mang is unimpressed with Gong Min because of Gong Min’s insistence to take down the Wang family for their shady business.

Wang Mang returns the jade to Gong Min, and decides to try to murder him because of two reasons – he wants to see if the jade works, and also because he found out Gong Min was marrying Ying Yue. Yes through the countless amount of flashbacks that we’ve had and stoney stares, it’s pretty obvious that Wang Mang has a thing for Ying Yue.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.48.06 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.48.15 PM

Gong Min arrives into the modern day in a pool – convenient so he can steal some guys’ clothes to change into right? He immediately calls Xiang Xiang’s cell, which she’s coincidentally not around, so her annoying manager can reject Gong Min.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.48.23 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.48.28 PM

He remembers where Xiang Xiang lives and sees her. Somehow, even though she threw a big f*cking fuss about him in the last episode, she forgets him now and leaves. I don’t know man, maybe it’s the jade but seriously? Why are we complicating things, because spoiler: they remember each other completely by the end of this episode.

WHY ARE WE GOING THROUGH ALL THIS TROUBLE OF THEM FORGETTING EACH OTHER?!

#unimpressed

Anyways Gong Min fully remembers Xiang Xiang after he sticks around her house for a bit after she leaves. Coincidentally a mailman comes by and gives a guy standing outside her house her package, because you know, that will definitely insure that the rightful owner gets the package right? Since Gong Min unabashedly opens a package made out to someone else, he finds the two rings that they purchased together and regains all of his memory.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.49.00 PM

He finds her at the red carpet ceremony where Han Yu Fei is receiving an award. She doesn’t remember him. He drops off a ring.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.49.24 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.49.32 PM

Gong Min calls Xiang Xiang’s cell and reaches Han Dong. Jing Jie and Han Dong decide to confront him and we have to deal with Jing Jie’s annoying way of speaking again. They tell him to leave Xiang Xiang alone because she’s happy now. Gong Min decides that he will, except that in literally the next scene he goes back on that because he sees Xiang Xiang crying.

So how does this scene add to the plot? It doesn’t. It’s an example on how the past four episodes were.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.49.54 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.49.58 PM

You see, Xiang Xiang sees the ring and remembers everything. And so she runs out to the bridge because it’s their ‘meeting spot’. He meets her on the bridge, professes his love for her and they’re back together and remembering everything.

We. Went. Full. Circle.

Xiang Xiang breaks up with Han Yu Fei. This is when her acting starts to annoy me. The way that she always reverts to her default expression of pouting.

You know there was this episode of How I Met Your Mother where you don’t notice someone’s flaws until someone else points it out? I didn’t really notice how annoying her ‘cute’ character was until right now but I hate how she unfailingly does a squinty eyed pout in every single scene.

You’re welcome by the way. It can’t be unnoticed now.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.51.15 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.51.30 PM

Han Yu Fei is angry that his girlfriend (now ex) is with this guy. He runs into them immediately after the breakup and confronts them. They fight at a club later – gets photographed – still, there is no indication of how this adds to the plot. This is ok, whatever, these little scenes build character development, I’m fine with that.

BUT DID WE HAVE TO SPEND 20 MINUTES FOCUSING ON ON GONG MIN AND XIANG XIANG HANGING OUT? It was excruciating. Unbearable. The fact that Zheng Shuang just tried to be so cute the whole damn part and they were less of sweet and cute moments but more like childish and immature forced moments. So unimpressed.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.51.50 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.52.01 PM

OK so first they just cuddle after him staying over. I have less of a problem with this.

It’s merely just boring. That’s ok. Sh*t happens.

BUT DID WE REALLY HAVE TO HAVE A WHOLE SEGMENT WITHIN THE SUPERMARKET WHERE THEY ACT LIKE RECKLESS CHILDREN?

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 6.16.24 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-03 at 6.16.27 PM

That is dangerous and she literally throws candy up into the air and onto the ground. What are you, like 12? And how did you even get in there?

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 6.16.40 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-03 at 6.16.41 PM

They try to be cute and fight over the last f*cking piece of chip. I can’t. Like this was very cringe inducing.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 6.16.45 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-03 at 6.16.46 PM

And he proceeds to grab a huge handful, unhygienically burying his entire hand into all of the testers, and eats them like a child. Even the actor playing the staff there couldn’t hide her unimpressed expression. Do the producers think it’s cute to act like an irresponsible child?

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.52.13 PM

Oh you think that’s it? At this point you’re not even half into the horrendously done couple scenes. It gets worse.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.52.41 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.52.43 PM

They literally… go to catch a chicken. Like somehow the producers think it’s cute that they’re leaping for a f*cking chicken. Does it end here? No. This is not entertaining at all.

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.53.03 PM

They proceed to cook together. Ok? Do we need a scene for this?

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.54.34 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.54.47 PM

They eat together. They don’t really say anything of substance. Do we, again, need a scene for this?

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 4.55.09 PM

Really? We needed a scene for… dishwashing?

I went from gushing about this drama and to now sh*tting on it. Now that Cruel Fate is out, I don’t mind if this drama ends a little bit early, as long as they don’t end up dragging it out. I mean… he already almost died in these few episodes and forgets everything… So this probably means we’re going to have to go full circle again with some sort of conflict (because I’m positive that it’s going to be a happy ending). ALRIGHT I will try to hold in the cynicism.

Lol I’m not watching this series at all. I wouldn’t watch it even if I have nothing to watch on my evening treadmill run. All the characters look unimpressive to me in episode 1. I’m waiting for your recaps on Cruel Romance 😀 and I know I’m late watching Prince of Lan Ling but like to share my thoughts. Oh my god that started out soooo good but went downhill from episode 19 onwards! I can’t believe I skim through upto episode 26 then had to skim through it again cos the bad people were getting too much screen time and lan ling wang character progression just flopped and lacked consistency. It was like producers just suddenly changed his personality midway then changed him back later. I just enjoyed watching Yu wen yong character! Xue Wu got really annoying that I was not sad at all when she died. I think it was her lack of appreciation for those sacrificing for her (namely xiao dong you poor dude).

Cruel Romance, I find myself comparing it to Lady and a Liar a lot, it doesn’t help the fact it started not long after Lady and a Liar finished. I miss Hawick Lau performance so much. I prefer hawick boyish handsome look to xiao mings rugged look, though both are very good actors at portraying a powerful character. I still occasionally skim through Lady and a Liar just to watch hawick scenes :p

I had high hopes for this drama. Did you watch the korean version of this? Somehow the korean executed the cute scene way better. It’s a shame because Jing Boran was growing on me.

Also I was already annoyed with Jing Jie’s voice from the beginning and Zheng Shuang’s voice is so squeaky ;___; I can’t. Yes thank you for recapping Cruel Romance. I personally like it more than Lady/Liar because I prefer Chen Qiao En over Tang Yan.

I agree Chen Qiao En is actually better than Tang Yan. Her character isn’t as annoying I think (not yet anyways) lol there is so much uncomfortable closeness in Cruel Romance. I lost count how many times the OTP faces are so close together they almost kissing lol

Deer, will you be recapping Cruel Romance? Pretty please… 😀 I get the jest of what’s going on in the series and I’m loving the OTP. I hope the bad guy Maeda doesn’t fall for our heroine since she looks like his past lover!

Thank you so much for your recap review. I totally agree with everything you wrote. I wish they’d delete every scene with jing jie manager. She’s too violent, just too over the top. Why am I still watching? Jing Boran, that’s all. #Sigh
