The award for the cutest drama eva
Ah it’s so cruel that this drama only comes out twice a week!!! It’s been so cute and sweet so far, and very little overly cheesy moments. I think Xiang Xiang’s character is pretty realistic and I can always relate and understand why she does what she does.
The episode starts with Xiang Xiang wincing and cringing at what she did in the last episode, which is hug Gong Min one last time, because she is convinced that she’ll never see him again. It was so cute – I think we all do cringe worthy things whenever we’re around our crush.
Poor Xiang Xiang couldn’t stop thinking about Gong Min even after he left. She remembered that Gong Min said that he would try not to ask for her help again, so she was afraid that even if he traveled back 2000 years he wouldn’t contact her. So she decided to stalk him and wait for him in the library.
Xiang Xiang surprisingly does bump into Gong Min at the library. At the library he looks in the history books to find out what happened to himself. He commits suicide by poison because he is guilty for helping Empress Xu in practicing voodoo against Zhao Fei Yan. He is shocked and scared, and he knows that he must have gotten framed.
Xiang Xiang and Gong Min have a very cute reunion, and she tells him that she wants to help him, and leaves him with her number.
Xiang Xiang holds Gong Min’s hands and he says, “Back in my time, only people in love do that”, and so she quickly let go. Xiang Xiang is spotted by her assistant, who recognizes Gong Min as the creep/stalker back at the the hospital. He tries to call authorities on him, but Gong Min disappears into thin air.
I’ve figured it out (from all my questions from the previous recap). Gong Min can only come to the present day when his life is in danger, but if he wants to go back, he only needs to read the words on the jade. This would explain so much in the first episode.
Meanwhile, Xiang Xiang starts filming as Empress Xu, and I must say Han Yu Fei is a really good actor. He really does put on the Emperor vibe while he’s in character on set of the set where he’s playing an actor – set within a set inception. Meanwhile Xiang Xiang’s look as Empress Xu is lacking – maybe I’ve been spoiled by Empress of China too much.
While filming, Xiang Xiang finds out from the director that in unofficial history Gong Min will die when he’s 26 years old in February (which is now) because of conspiracy and voodoo. She becomes worried about him.
As a result, Gong Min is exiled.
They send this guy to kill of Gong Min but I really thought he died last week…
Back in time, true to the history books, Gong Min gets framed for conspiring with Empress Xu to practice voodoo on Zhao Fei Yan. He gets prosecuted.
He is brought to see the Emperor.
Apparently Wang’s people are framing him and the only evidence that they have is a letter written by the sorcerer (used by Empress Wang to do voodoo) and the dead sorcerer in Gong Min’s garden. I meaaaan those pieces of evidence are pretty questionable and faulty I would say, but it is the ancient times, so drama. Plus, Gong Min doesn’t even defend himself.
Anyways, there wasn’t any rhyme or reason why Gong Min is out in the open on the way to exiling him. He takes off his outer jacket so I guess either he’s gonna take a pee/poo or a bath. Anyways, this makes him a target for assassination. During the struggle, Gong Min almost takes a direct hit, but the jade powers help him time travel to the present day.
He ends up on the street in modern day. They don’t give much of an explanation on how he got into a dance performance or dance practice, but he does (I guess it was an avenue for the producers to get Gong Min in a spiffy dancer’s outift).
Gong Min cutely observes their dancing and gives a cute smile.
He takes the clothes there and leaves a bunch of old day money. But forreal though, these would be worth so much if sold to a museum.
The adorable Gong Min walks through the streets, realizing that he’s in Hang Zhou. He sits in front of the information booth awkwardly staring at the girl.
The girl is convinced that Gong Min is interested… but he really actually just wants to borrow her phone.
He cutely calls Xiang Xiang, whose cellphone number he memorized. He asks for help and tells her that he’s in Hang Zhou. She starts crying because she missed him so much, and she was worried that he had died.
Xiang Xiang and her assistant try to convince Jing Jie that they needed to go to Hang Zhou. Since Xiang Xiang is a celebrity, she’s not allowed to date, so they lied that it’s Gong Min is the assistant’s friend.
Xiang Xiang and Gong Min spend a considerable amount of time together where she teaches him how modern people live. These scenes are so cute, and I find both of them so attractive so I love it even though it’s cheesy.
She teaches him how to use money (and read numbers like 1234)… and she beams at him when he successfully buys her a coffee :3
She teaches her how to speak in modern day slang, and they even role play to pretend to speak over the phone.
And they even watch a movie together, where Gong Min watched a sex scene with Xiang Xiang. He leans over and whispers “Is that what modern girls like to do?” and Xiang Xiang changes the subject to popcorn.
At the end of their night, Gong Min compliments her that her Empress Xu costume was very beautiful. By now we’ve established that Xiang Xiang has a huge crush on Gong Min and so obviously this comment makes her really happy. Additionally, Gong Min pulls her closer when she says that she’s cold, to try to warm her up.
Xiang Xiang repeats what Gong Min had said in the library earlier, “In my time, this is what people in love do”. Since Gong Min didn’t pull away, she leaned in to kiss him. *Screams*. This was adorable.
Well, now they engage in a full blown kiss – which I’m surprised that Gong Min knew how to do.
Xiang Xiang’s phone rang, and it breaks their moment. She walks away shyly.
Gong Min reaches over while she’s walking and holds her hand. OMG our OTP are finally official!!! I’m melting. This is adorable.
Meanwhile Jing Jie gets upset about her ex and her nonexistent love life. She kisses the assistant (who I thought was gay…) and they end up making out (or more, it’s not explained). So now, things are awkward.
Both couples suffer from awkwardness from last night until they bump into Han Yu Fei, who calls the authorities on Gong Min, since he suspects Gong Min of being a creep/stalker.
To protect Gong Min, Xiang Xiang reveals that he’s not a stalker, but but but, her boyfriend! This is a big deal because Han Yu Fei wants to date her, and Jing Jie says that she’s not allowed to date because she’s a celebrity.
TRAILER for tomorrow:
Gong Min admits his feelings for Xiang Xiang as well, and he promises to come back to be together with her, but because of an assassination attempt (yet again) breaking the jade, he is stuck there?!!?! NOOOOOOOOOO. 😥 We will wait and see, but I can’t believe we’re nearly two-thirds into the drama already.
