THEY’RE ALL FALLING IN LOVE

I finally figured out what was so endearing about our dear Xiang Hao – he actually really reminds me of an anime character with his exaggerated reactions and his silly behaviour. I guess he reminds of Luffy from One Piece the most – the same cluelessness, the same recklessness, the same amount of ambitiousness, and the same amount of love and willingness to help his friends.

Joe Chen also has that x-factor that makes you fall in love with the male leads that she’s falling in love with at the same time. I have the second-male lead syndrome right now though – I really love Shen Wen Tao so much more than Xiang Hao at this point, because he’s so much more mature and intelligent. Too bad we all know that she’ll end up with Xiang Hao for sure.

I made a mistake (I know I shouldn’t have but I couldn’t help myself) of looking up trailers of the drama to see what happens later on and oh em geeeeeee I don’t want to spoil it but the real Xiao Han replaces Xiao Qi as our main antagonist later on!!! Eee I hope things don’t get too complicated.

At the beginning of Episode 13, Papa Xiang (also General Xiang) finds out Xiang Hao is in danger up on the mountains while delivering the foods to Da Shuai. Finding out that he was kidnapped (but has now escaped, and is looking to get back the supplies), General Xiang sends soldiers up to the mountain to try to help, not trusting Li Ji Zhou’s backup.

Bao Bao goes out of her way to piss off Ma Yi Yen in order to get him out from his fortress, in order to ambush/trap him to get the supplies back.  She taunts him and challenges him for a one-on-one fight while calling him a pussy. Meanwhile, the cadets have surrounded the area and shoot at fortress to heighten her taunts.

Ma Yi Yen and his bandits come out of the fortress in anger, and manage to knock Bao Bao out of her tree from her hiding spot by skillfully throwing a knife in her direction. She falls out of the tree, while the knife had cut her hand deeply.

We then get a very adorable cheesy scene between Shen Wen Tao 英雄救美 saving our dear Bao Bao by catching her in his arms.

Serves also as another opportunity for Xiang Hao to show his care and concern for Bao Bao when he sees her wound. Xiang Hao sees how badly she’s hurt, and nearly tries to murder Ma Yi Yen for hurting her if he wasn’t held back.

Meanwhile, General Xiang’s soldiers who are on their way to help are delayed by tacks left on the road (Li Tian Han and his guys were the people that left the tacks).

Bao Bao was so badass in this scene. From the traps that she had directed the cadets to set, Ma Yi Yen and his first round of bandits were successfully captured and under control. Having Ma Yi Yen as hostage, a second round of bandits arrive to save their leader. The cadets didn’t have enough firearms to combat the second round of bandits, so they were in a standstill.

So Bao Bao helped Ma Yi Yen up, and patted him off, and released him as a sign of goodwill. Ma Yi Yen, thinking that he won, begins to taunt the cadets, until Bao Bao reveals that she had pickpocketed Ma Yi Yen and stole his personal blade. Bao Bao throws the blade to only take off Ma Yi Yen’s hat, showing that it was truly out of goodwill that she let him go, and that she could take his life if she wanted to, even after releasing him.

Ma Yi Yen’s shocked and impressed (so am I LOL) and decides to return all the supplies to the cadets. I honestly don’t know the logic behind that, but you know what, drama.

Look at Bao Bao’s look of triumph. She’s so cute haha.

While waiting for the supplies to be returned to them, we witness another adorable scene between Xiang Hao and Bao Bao. Xiang Hao tends to the wound on her hand while Shen Wen Tao looks on from afar in slight jealousy.

It might not be evident in the recap but every time Xiang Hao speaks, he’s the cutest. He says the funniest and most immature things that really makes the drama so good – since I’m only recapping the plotline, I thought I’d just add that in.

Ma Yi Yen and his bandits return with the supplies and states, “I’ve never met a woman that I have respected so much. You have a friend in me, please let me know if you ever need help,”

I’m so glad we have a strong female lead in this drama – I don’t think it’d be as good if we had a passive weak one that needed to be protected.

And Joe’s so pretty when she smiles with her teeth!

Bao Bao and the cadets take the supplies and resume their path towards Da Shuai and the frontline. Unfortunately Li Tian Han, this human piece of filth decides to take this as an opportunity to try to attack our cadets and Bao Bao.

I have an inkling (this is not confirmed) but since he’s so desperate to be the leader of the Ji Yi cadets, I think that he probably was the one that planted real bombs during the practice session that killed Xiao Hua. Wait until Xiao Qi finds out about this… She would be devastated.

Papa Xiang’s men show up on time to defend the cadets and Bao Bao from the ambush.

Xie Tian Jiao is sick and decide to seek medical attention from the resident military doctor at the hospital.

Xie Tian Jiao is still pretty manly and demands medical attention loudly until Dr. Su forces her to lie down on a bed, and for him to listen to her heartbeat by placing the stethoscope on her chest. She immediately becomes very shy and demure. After he was done, she becomes very passive, reserved, and ladylike LOL.

She ‘falls in love’ with Dr. Su after this I guess. Just one of the many cute side stories of this drama.

One of the guys that were attacking the cadets with Li Tian Han was captured. This man was pulled in for questioning and chooses to kill himself instead of revealing Li Tian Han’s involvement because he was afraid of putting his family in harm’s way.

Li Tian Han ends up killing his accomplice’s family anyways, thinking that it’s better to be safe than sorry, in case his accomplice had revealed something to his family.

Xiang Hao catches Bao Bao and Shen Wen Tao having a cute friendship moment, and decides to intervene (this is when he starts to get jealous and is falling for Bao Bao).

Xiang Hao cutely intervenes between the two of them and acts in the most immature manner ever. Keep watching Shen Wen Tao, as Bosco tries really hard to keep a serious/annoyed face, but it looks like he’s trying so hard not to laugh at Xiang Hao’s antics.

Xiang Hao pulls Bao Bao away in protest, saying possibly the cutest line in this drama:

Bao Bao: “You’re hurting my hand”

Xiang Hao: “YOUR hand? It’s my hand. In fact you’re mine, from head to toe, every part is mine! Since our arranged marriage is still intact, you’re mine until further notice!”

Xiang Hao persists with his immature logic and all Bao Bao could do was just walk away, exasperated.

Xiao Bai finds out that Shen Wen Tao bought a cake for Bao Bao’s birthday, and quickly tells the other guys, especially Xiang Hao.

Intending to only celebrate with the puppy (I know, a puppy would be my number one choice to celebrate my birthday with too), Shen Wen Tao surprises our dear Bao Bao with a birthday cake.

Shen Wen Tao is seriously the sweetest and I wish our OTP would be him and Bao Bao instead.

This cute moment is ruined by the other cadets coming to ruin their moment by wanting to celebrate with Bao Bao as well.

Xiang Hao breaks into a dance to celebrate Bao Bao’s birthday, while his friends throw confetti into the air. Look at all the other actor’s reactions: it reveals the new level of human degradation that they’ve reached to act in one of the most ridiculous and silly dance numbers ever in a drama series.

 

Xiang Hao realizes that he’s in love with Xiao Han (his expression can give you a good idea of what happens in this scene).

Xiang Hao and his bros somehow come up with this genius idea to confess to Bao Bao during the upcoming ball, and they decided to do a role play.

This scene was so damn hilarious and bromantic – I’m going to be missing all these cadets after this series end!!!

Shen Wen YU, Shen Wen Tao’s sister is the biggest bitch in this drama (spoiler, highlight to see: In the trailer, I see that she’s the one that rats out Bao Bao’s true identity to Li Ji Zhou).

I hate her so much – I hate how mean she is to Bao Bao, just on the basis that Xiang Hao likes Bao Bao instead of her. I hate how her life surrounds around Xiang Hao and she has nothing else better to do. Gah. I hate her character so much.\

Anyways, Bao Bao asks about the event that night, not knowing that it was a ball, and Shen Wen Yu lies to tell her that it was going to be combat and rescue practice for the cadets. Shen Wen Yu goes on to lie that the female staff will be dressed up as distressed refugees, and the more realistic the better.

Bao Bao shows up that night as a distressed refugee to the ball, and Shen Wen Yu says to Xiang Hao, “There’s no way that she’ll get in now – you’ll have to take me as a partner!”.

Shen Wen Tao then takes Bao Bao away, while Xiang Hao responds to Shen Wen Yu by saying “No matter what she looks like, I still like her!”

Everyone’s having a good time at the ball… the cadets are dancing bromantically together…

Xie Tian Jiao and Dr. Su end up dancing together…

We have to deal with this obligatory scene of the human piece of filth Li Tian Han dancing with the dumb Xiao Qi. I really hate all their scenes together.

Meanwhile Xiang Hao mourns over his lost opportunity to confess to Bao Bao.

Bao Bao shows up in a beautiful red dress with Shen Wen Tao and Xiang Hao immediately tries to steal her away to dance.

Shen Wen Tao’s like “Uh, no,” and somehow decides the next most logical decision is to dance with Xiang Hao in place of Bao Bao (seriously? LOL). So we are rewarded with this incredibly ridiculous scene of them ballroom dancing together.

 Bao Bao tries to lighten the mood and has some fun of her own by running up on stage and doing the western line dance with a bunch of other cadets.

Awww :’) look at their looks of admiration at her. Melting.

The producers really love dance numbers. After a ridiculously long and excruciatingly awkward scene of dancing, they finally stop.

Xiang Hao manages to steal Bao Bao away and blurts out that he likes her. Bao Bao doesn’t take him seriously (and you can’t blame her) since he’s been joking around with her and pranking her since day one. Bao Bao leaves him halfway during his confession to her and he stands alone in the courtyard.

At home, in her own room, she reminds herself that she’s just a fraud, and that she shouldn’t fall in love/get attached to anyone since she’ll have to leave after Mama Chien’s sickness is cured.

On their way back, Xiao Qi suggests that she should stop seeking revenge on Shen Wen Tao and Xiang Hao (more on this later).

We have a series of really cute/hilarious scenes of Shen Wen Tao trying to confess/get close to Bao Bao while Xiang Hao interrupts.

Shen Wen Tao tries to give Bao Bao his first award at the academy, so she can think of him whenever she sees it, and Xiang Hao cutely interrupts and says, “Oh I can give you my whole wall of awards if you’d like” and ruins the moment. Seriously… watch Bosco/Shen Wen Tao the whole time LOL he’s trying so hard not to smirk.

Bao Bao looks for Shen Wen Tao to help her look for their puppy, and she cutely walks in on Shen Wen Tao’s roomies barely wearing anything and working out. Shen Wen Tao escorts her out and covers her eyes (so adorable) and helps her look for the puppy which really wasn’t hiding but she obviously didn’t look hard enough.

Shen Wen Tao’s about to kiss Bao Bao (and omg, if only… I wish they were together), but Xiang Hao comes in and ruins the moment and pulls them apart. Xiang Hao finally reveals out of jealousy that Bao Bao and him have an arranged marriage, and that Bao Bao was already taken. Shen Wen Tao looks on, stunned and sad :'(.

The news of the arranged marriage spread around school and Shen Wen Yu cries in devastation. Xie Tian Jiao demands that she stops crying, but suddenly sympathies with Shen Wen Yu’s love woes LOL. Everyone looks on in shock.

Oh EM GEE Shen Wen Tao finds out that Bao Bao’s a fraud, and she’s not the real Xiao Han because of a letter sent to Xiao Han with a picture of the real Xiao Han.

Intending to confront her, he decides to watch from afar at the hospital while Bao Bao gives a dangerous amount of blood to Mama Chien.

Later on that night, Shen Wen Tao coincidentally overhears Bao Bao confess to everything and her alibi when she apologizes to Xiao Han (who she thinks is dead). LOL the way that Shen Wen Tao overhears everything is really ridiculous because he somehow is always in the right place and at the right time.

Anyways, Shen Wen Tao finds out that Bao Bao only is committing fraud because of the necessary medical attention for Mama Chien.

SADFJLASKDJF Omfg.

Because Xiao Qi wanted to stop seeking revenge on Xiang Hao and Shen Wen Tao, Li Tian Han decides to get someone to rape Xiao Qi and blame it as revenge on Xiang Hao and Shen Wen Tao.

WHY.

你這個死變態 YOU SOCIOPATH WHAT ARE YOU THINKING YOU HUMAN PIECE OF FILTH I CANNOT EVEN AHHHHHHHHH. WHY WOULD YOU PLAN RAPE ON SOMEONE THAT YOU PRETEND TO CARE ABOUT AHHHH ASDFLKJAHSDF.

Li Tian Han successfully reignites Xiao Qi’s hate for the guys, and she agrees to help him poison him.

Li Tian Han adds in the poison during Xiang Hao and Shen Wen Tao’s bantering in the cafeteria. 

Bao Bao walks in and Xiang Hao decides to give her the most seductive bedroom eyes with a bun in his mouth…

And he proceeds to beg Shen Wen Tao to leave his ‘things’ alone. Shen Wen Tao responds with explaining how Bao Bao is not a thing but a person with her own decisions. They leave to rock-climbing practice, except Bao Bao returns the the cafeteria since she forget her books.

She witnesses Xiao Qi being sketchy with collecting Xiang Hao and Shen Wen Tao’s bowls.

The boys decide that it would be a good idea to descend down the rock without a harness or a safety rope, and decides to make a competition out of it.

Halfway through, the poison kicks in, and they both struggle to not fall directly down the cliff. 

Bao Bao, sensing something was wrong, rushes to the cliff area after seeing Xiao Qi being sketchy. and quickly descends down, knowing that they must have been poisoned. She sends Du Feng down too at the same time. She sees Shen Wen Tao nearly falling off, so she uses her acrobatic skills to jump head down towards him to catch him from falling to his death.

I know I say this a million times for this drama (but since it’s so rare) I love how we have a strong female lead that saves other people and the male leads instead of always having to be saved herself like the normal passive weak female leads. I know that it’s made out that way to accentuate how strong and protective male leads are, but when will producers realize we like a capable female lead that we can related to instead of an incompetent one that we get frustrated with?!

Bao Bao confronts Xiao Qi about the poisoning, but does not report her to authorities on the basis of her relationship to Shen Wen Tao and Xiang Hao. Xiao Qi doesn’t feel bad at all, and still blames the guys for everything unfortunate in her life. I know she’s lost a family member and all, but damn girl, you really need to move on.

Our dear Bao Bao very lovingly cares for Shen Wen Tao’s leg wound (this is so cute, if only they ended up together… I’ve got second male lead syndrome). This is where Shen Wen Tao decides to protect Bao Bao, and her identity, because he decides that she’s a good person. Since she saved him and didn’t give up on him, he won’t give up on her too, and he vowed to protect her no matter what (where do I find myself a Shen Wen Tao?!).  At the end of Episode 16 and 3000 words later, Xiang Hao is still acting damn cute and silly by throwing a immature tantrum after finding out Bao Bao had visited Shen Wen Tao, but not him. Bosco in this scene is half-smiling the whole time even though he’s supposed to look annoyed because Xiang Hao is just so damn hilarious. I swear… half of the things he says is not scripted.

I need to hurry up and catch up with the rest of the recaps because I think things are getting real and shit’s going down soon!!!
