錦繡未央: The Princess WeiYoung Episode 30, 31 Synopsis Episode Summary Recap

I am slowly catching up to this drama, and I haven’t had the time to write at all. Anyways, I wanted to make this post first because writing 7 to 29 is going to be a bitch since my procrastination, but the previews for 34 and 35 looking fucking ridiculous. Like yeah it might not have been very interesting so far but at least it’s been realistic. But before I move forwards about complaining about another episode, let me complain about this one first.

Anyways, to give some context, Wei Young needs to be sent off to get married off, and Tuo Ba Jun is sick from pleading in the rain to beg the Emperor to reverse his decision.

Even though he’s supposed to be imprisoned, he manages to sneak away.

But doesn’t make it in time… and Wei Young is to be married off. She’s accompanied by Prince of Nan An.

Can someone tell me if he has circle lenses on?

Anyways, the bride to be is received by the Liu-Song people, and and a small group of Liu-Song officials are to bring them to their land to uphold the marriage ceremony.

BUT TURNS OUT, THE LIU-SONG GROUP HAD NO INTENTION OF DOING THE MARRIAGE CEREMONY, AND HAD WANTED TO USE THIS AS AN EXCUSE TO START WAR WITH THE WEI PEOPLE.

They wanted to rape Wei Young and pin the rape on Prince of Nan An- then start war because the marriage contract would be broken. But of course, Tuo Ba Jun shows up – right on time too, because you know – drama.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-25-55-pmscreen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-28-10-pm

Prince of Nan An decides to deliver Wei Young back to the Wei territory, while Tuo Ba Jun, sensing that the nearby city might be at danger because the Liu-Song people are intending to start war, head in that direction.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-28-52-pmscreen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-29-57-pm

On Wei Young’s way back to the country Wei, she gets ambushed.

Which is fucking ridiculous because THESE SOLDIERS, THAT ONLY HAVE ONE JOB, NEVER GO FOR THE TARGET. Obviously she gets away with Prince of Nan An.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-32-20-pmscreen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-32-35-pm

They have to hide in a dark closet while the Liu-Song soldiers look for them, and Prince of Nan An (injured) has a panic attack.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-32-53-pm

Turns out his evil stepmom would lock him up in the dark, and he is afraid of the dark from now on.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-39-23-pm

I am convinced that everyone in the olden days are thirsty af because somehow they fall in love at the drop of the hat. ^ Here is Prince of Nan An looking at his hand (that held Wei Young’s hand) and feeling a sense of fondness for her. Like seriously? You guys spent one night together. Calm your shit.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-40-30-pm

Tuo Ba Jun shows up and says “We must fight, even though we have a quarter of the amount of soldiers they have!”

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-41-13-pm

And while all the other Generals wear full gear like this^…

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-44-21-pm

He wears no protective headgear or armour and just wears his normal outfit. It’s like c’mon I know you’re the main male lead and you’re supposed to be all handsome and cool and stuff but at least wear some war gear.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-44-51-pmscreen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-45-12-pm

And we obviously all see this coming. Tuo Ba Jun literally flies off his horse and shoots an arrow at the main General of the Liu-Song Opposition, and after the main enemy general is shot, they retreated. It was literally that easy.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-45-19-pm

“Oh shit. It was that easy.”

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-49-40-pmscreen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-56-21-pm

Realizing that Tuo Ba Jun is fighting a war, Wei Young decides to go join him instead of going back home.

Because she is oh-so-intelligent since she’s our female lead, she figures out a way to burn the food of the opposition.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-56-31-pm

Yes even though she’s so intelligent, she still needs to somehow fall off a tree so she can be caught and taken care of – because drama.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-57-44-pmscreen-shot-2016-11-27-at-2-58-18-pm

How she does it is that she captures a bunch of birds with a net (which is like, how does she get like a 12 x 12 ft net out of nowhere?) and she starves these birds.

THEN SHE APPARENTLY RUBS GUNPOWDER ON THESE POOR BIRD’S FEET!!! So that when they detect the food nearby, they will inevitably cause friction with the food and burn them down.

SHE CAUSES THESE LITTLE BIRDS TO BURN ALIVE.

Was I the only one that was concerned about these birds while she was gleefully explaining her plan???

And ^ screencaps to depict how they have a ‘moment’ when she rejoins him.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-3-03-40-pm

And she gives him a hella ugly good luck charm (screenshotted to show you how ugly it is).

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-3-05-20-pm

Prince of Nan An gets one too apparently but his is a lot nicer.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-3-07-30-pmscreen-shot-2016-11-27-at-3-07-41-pm

Tuo Ba Jun gets injured with an arrow when they’re out and about.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-3-10-48-pmscreen-shot-2016-11-27-at-3-12-30-pm

And Prince of Nan An intentionally makes it that Chi Yun Chi knows their road map to send out assassins to attack them.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-3-13-41-pmscreen-shot-2016-11-27-at-3-13-48-pm

BUT he changes his mind last minute because he realized that during his panic attack last time with Wei Young, she did something to calm him down.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-3-18-08-pmscreen-shot-2016-11-27-at-3-19-29-pm

So he decides to recall his guys back last minute.

SO REVIEW TIME: like so far, I am giving this drama a 6 out of 10. I mean… it’s enjoyable, but not enthralling that I have to watch it everyday, or that I’m so attached to these characters that I have to watch it everyday. But like, I looked up the episodes for tomorrow and my god it looks fucking ridiculous. If it’s as stupid as I think it is, I’ll probably write about that before episodes 7 to 29.

oh hey you’re back. This drama is getting crazy viewership and ratings in China, and somewhat popular with international audiences (compared to most Cdramas). Though it feels rushed at times and execution problems are glaringly obvious, pacing was decent for the first 20 eps, but from eps 25-35 the typical Chinese drama pacing (aka. dragging curse) strikes again. Throw in repetitive conflicts and same ol’ mediocre execution – what started off pretty good now seems to be going downhill. I have very mixed feelings about this drama. My favorite thing about this drama is definitely the main leads who have such sparks – the kind that makes you swoon for the girl and gives you butterflies. But that’s about it. Everything else simply gets the job done, but nothing sticks out in particular nor does anything seriously suck either. And Wei Young who is supposed to be super intelligent and witty gets herself in hot water a few too many times for her to not be considered a damsel in distress who needs Prince Charming aka. Touba Jun.

Still entertaining, but what had me binge watching for the first 15-20 episodes now feels like it cooled off, and fast. You’re right it’s NOT the kind of drama that gets you thinking or attached to the story and its characters…as much as Touba Jun is total bae. And when you think about it, nothing is properly developed either – shit just kinda happens?

Anyway the way he looks at Wei Young is enough to keep me watching for now.

Yeah Agreed. Like if any of the characters die I would not be that sad. Idk though I feel like they’re overdoing the Prince Charming thing and it’s not really resonating with me. He is growing on me tho cuz I thought he was ugly at first and now I find him cute
