Tomorrow is the last day of Empress of China
I’m so upset. I have nothing else to watch – everything else seems so boring as of right now. Today’s episodes were very uneventful, and nothing out of the ordinary that occurred – everything seems so sped up, and I can’t believe tomorrow’s going to be the last few episodes… I think they really should’ve spaced out everything better.
So first off, Mei Niang gives brith to a son! Everyone is alarmed, and the Emperor is very happy. He names him Li Hong (I immediately was thinking Li Hong… Leehom) which alludes to that the Emperor may want to make him Crown Prince.
The Emperor suddenly faints – he’s had feng chi for all these years now – which starts off as a headache, and it gets worse until he becomes blind – his grandfather and father had it and it’s hereditary. I wonder if it’s cancer or something.
Meanwhile Qing Xun, Shu Fei’s old servant, is still trying to get Li Ke to be Emperor. I’m really sick of her shit – he’s rejected her pleads for him to usurp the throne so many times but she just won’t stop. And at one point she leans on his chest like this. Did I miss something? Are they together? She’s never acted like she loved him before, and it seems like she’s so much older than him since she served his mother, but I really don’t know. I’m just confused.
The Emperor comes to visit Li Ke. Since Mei Niang gave birth to a son, he really wants to make her into a fei, a consort, a promotion from what she is now. He visited Li Ke to ask him to back him up on that, and offered him power over many troops. Li Ke was disappointed – was he receiving power over troops because of his skill or because he was only to help Mei Niang to become a fei?
While they chat, his servant brings them alcohol. She poisons the Emperor’s cup. When to drink it, the Emperor looked at Li Ke for a bit, and Li Ke exchanged cups with the Emperor. When Li Ke was about to drink originally the Emperor’s cup of alcohol, Qing Xun, the servant, knocks it out of his hand, and pulls a dagger on the Emperor. Li Ke smacks it away. There’s this whole part where she’s screaming at Li Ke, not to bow to the Emperor to beg for her life, but in the end, they kill Qing Xun anyways.
Back at the palace, Mei Niang waits for the Emperor. He tries to avoid her at first, but in the end, tells her about his day, and additionally trying to get Li Ji to be his alliance. Li Ji is a powerful general that governs many troops, but in the end, the Emperor was rejected. He felt helpless because as an Emperor, he couldn’t even give Mei Niang a ‘promotion’ in the ranks, and he was rejected by a general.
And lots of screencaps below. This was such a sweet wife/husband scene of her helping to dress him. She looked so gorgeous, albeit the wig was a little fake.
The set was so nice too.
Mei Niang meets up with Li Yi Fu, her secret chancellor that’s helping her pull strings. He tells her that he saw Li Ke meet up with Li Ji secretly. She starts to suspect him of treason and trying to usurp the throne.
My simplified chinese is not good when the words appeared on the screen, but some time has passed, and Mei Niang has given birth to a daughter! Daughter is so cute, but historically, she gets killed either to frame Empress Wang, or actually killed by Empress Wang, we don’t know for sure.
Meanwhile, the Emperor is still trying to get rid of his Feng Chi. Finally a dao shi, sorcerer, that Empress Wang found, helps with his headaches.
The Empress Wang thanks the sorcerer for his work. To test if he’s really a good sorcerer, Consort Xiao asks him to guess the number that she writes down. He gets it right, it’s 7. (I have such a big inkling that he’s secretly sent by Mei Niang…)
And in this last important part, it was so sad. Finally the Emperor visits the Empress out of thanking her for finding that sorcerer that temporarily cured his feng chi and headaches. Empress Wang starts talking about Mei Niang and the Emperor becomes pissed – he hates gossip. He requests for a room separate from hers. Omg. So sad. Especially since he never visits her or sleeps over.
Episode 80 Trailer
This was a pretty confusing trailer but from what I get from it is that Consort Xiao is framed for voodoo and sorcery and she is demoted! Tomorrow is the last day, where everything wrap up. Meanwhile I need to catch up reviewing the rest of the episodes…
