Mei Niang and Li Zhi finally marry!!!
Mei Niang is devastated that she lost the baby. I wonder why they had to make it Li Zhi’s baby – it would’ve made things so much less complicated – she never tells anyone else that this baby is his, so it doesn’t add to the plot. It just adds confusion because they never act like they slept together or even show the scene and when they slept together… So why add in that detail? Its more believable if it’s Li Shi Min’s.
I would just like to mention that her hair was supposed to be a wig, and its supposed to be prearranged into a bun…
But I guess that the wig was so good back then she could take it out of the bun. Anyways she’s so devastated but she still has the wig on because… drama.
Princess GaoYang was super shady throughout this whole entire episode… She has to have something to do with the miscarriage
Anyways, Li Zhi and Mei Niang have a heart-wrenching but sweet scene again of him professing his love for her.

And for some strange reason, he decides to go visit Empress Wang. Again, ruining my OTP dreams here, Li Zhi.
After much investigation, Mei Niang finds out that the fabric separator that Empress Wang gifted her. Turns out, that it creates a reaction between the drink that she had at Princess GaoYang’s banquet – and that’s why she had a miscarriage.
Princess Gao Yang suggests that Mei Niang should marry Li Zhi, so she can stay in the royal palace to seek revenge. Mei Niang refuses to marry Li Zhi because of her faithfulness to Li Shi Min. The chancellors who all still believe the prediction, that she will be the downfall of the Tang dynasty, pressure Li Zhi to make her leave, especially now that she’s lost her baby, she doesn’t have a title anymore. Li Zhi drinks alone in sadness, having one more day until she has to leave.
Princess GaoYang joins him in drinking, and out of drunkeness, he reveals that Li Shi Min (his father) had set out a decree to kill Mei Niang’s baby if she ever had one, because he actually believed in the prediction somewhat. Just in case, right? I mean, I feel like he was a very smart ruler because he put his country first, instead of love – unlike Li Zhi.
Li Zhi tells Princess GaoYang to burn it but nope, being the shady person that she is, she decides to show Mei Niang. 
Mei Niang sees it and goes crazy and runs out of her living quarters. She feels like the Emperor never loved her, and that she’s been faithful for no good reason.
And here we have an incredibly unexplained awkward scene with Li Zhi and Mei Niang. First they don’t explain how she got there, and his initial reaction in seeing her. And where is this located where it’s just darkness and beads? We’ve never seen this in his palace.
All we see is embrace and uncomfortable closeness. I mean he looks like he’s about to kiss her, but he doesn’t, but he leans in multiple times. The producers really failed at making their relationship romantic. C’mon.

I just cannot. Why can’t we just have one scene where Mei Niang reciprocates the love from Li Zhi?! I just want some happiness and romance in this drama.
They get married in the next scene, and the shots are gorgeous. Her outfit is so beautiful.

After their revelation that the Emperor has made Mei Niang his Zhao Yi (a rank of concubine) the chancellors and the Empress + Consort Xiao is PISSED. During chao ting he gets confronted and gets pressured to revoke his decision.
This d-bag tries to pressure the Emperor through self harm.
Luckily Li Ke swoops in to tell the guy off and to stop, but I would’ve just waited until he stopped. He would pass out eventually, right?
Li Ke swoops in and neutralizes the situation. Although he doesn’t understand why Li Zhi could do that, because Mei Niang is technically his step mom, he lets it be, because no one picks on his little brother. So cute.
Empress is sad because she has no children
Zhang Sun Wu Ji and the Empress’s father knows that they can’t do anything about Mei Niang anymore, but they want to make sure that she never becomes Empress, and her child will never become Crown Prince. They do this by making one of the existing princes into her ‘stepchild’ or ‘godchild’, and making that child Crown Prince. The child is Zhong Er, the one that we met a few episodes back. She accepts, because there’s no other way.
I don’t have a lot of feels to this episode because it went the way I think it would, but man, the TRAILER. I had so many angry feelings/rant towards that.
