I’m working on the other recap/review but the Episode 90 trailer came out and I am so unimpressed with the Emperor. I am so furious. It has nothing to do with 86-89 so I’m going to cover this trailer first. I can’t even. I’m so mad already. The Emperor isn’t even my husband.

So from what it looks like, Ming Yue, a girl that looks around 14 is introduced into the picture because Empress Wu wants her to be Tai Zi Fei, the wife of the future Crown Prince.

Ming Yue. I can’t even with you especially.

BUT NOPE her target is the Emperor, not the Crown Prince. Come on, seriously? Finding someone that’s 40 years older than you, just so he can fulfill your wishes better? #unimpressed

Mei Niang is the one that introduced her into the palace too

And, and, the Emperor has taken a great liking to her.

They have so much fun together, apparently in the trailer he’s in nearly tears.

I want to smack him so hard so he’ll really be in tears.

So it just hit me. This is how it is. Patriarchy. Mei Niang has done so much for him, within the palace courts politically, raise two children, and physically take care of him as a wife. And it’s perfectly reasonable for him to find someone that’s 40 years younger and forget about Mei Niang after all she’s done. Obviously he’s not going to do that, we know because, history. But he is treating this girl with strange favouritism. And the way he looked at her when she initially walked into the room…

UGH. I’m ranting like a neurotic jealous girlfriend but it’s true. I hope Mei Niang gets rid of her soon. I know this is a Chinese historical drama but this is ruining my OTP need.
