Mei Niang returns to the palace and grows out her hair within a year?!
Episode 63 trailer of Empress of China looks so unpromising. Yes I am very aware that the current Empress and Consort Xiao will scheme together to take her down but according to history, she doesn’t become pregnant before returning to the palace, and doesn’t hide it as the previous Emperor (Li Shi Min)’s child. Now it’s so complicated and I feel like the upcoming episodes are going to be laggy and skim-worthy.
So even though Li Zhi is Emperor now, he’s, crudely to speak, a wuss. A pussy, if you must. He can’t do anything. Even though he loves Mei Niang deeply, he can’t go and fetch her out of the temple because of the yu yan
We find out the Mei Niang is pregnant and that she’s been hiding it for four months now (since Li Zhi has been in power as emperor for 4 months now). She decides to try to escape from the temple, because she doesn’t want to re-enter the palace, as it’s become a very scary place for her. I mean, like 4 different people on separate occasions tried to kill her right? So obviously she doesn’t want to let her child live this life. She’s the only one that knows that the child is Li Zhi’s because who wants to admit that they slept with their own stepson?

Fan bingbing so beautiful while bald!
Princess GaoYang finds out, and even though directed not to tell anyone, she tells Li Zhi, who also thinks that it’s his father’s son. Like how could you not know?! Especially the time when you guys banged directly corresponds with her pregnancy? Have you no logic? But, drama.
Li Zhi reveals a scroll left by Li Shi Min (his father), which says that any child that MeiNiang has must die, because of the prediction. Li Zhi also at the moment decides that he needs to protect MeiNiang, and take control of his country, by getting rid of Zhang Sun Wu Ji.

The current Empress Wang
First thing he did was to get Wu Wang, Li Ke to come back to Chang An to help him with governing the country. Wu Wang is his only alliance, but he was sent to An Zhou by Zhang Sun Wu Ji
Li Ke was concerned that there are still rebels of the Sui Dynasty that wants to rebel against Li Zhi, and he was afraid that he might rebel if returning. He wants to stay out of Li Zhi’s business.

They kept showing shots of this guy to show that he was listening in to their conversation, because you know, drama.
Turns out the attempted assassination on Li Ke and the death of the 11 men from Zhang Sun Wu Ji was staged by Qing Shun, Shu Fei’s old servant.
She actually wants to frame Li Zhi and get Li Ke to rebel and she’s gathered a bunch of rebels already for when they enter the palace.
The last scene ends with Li Zhi and Mei Niang thinking of each other. He’s afraid to go see her, because he thinks she’s changed and she doesn’t want to have anything to do with the royal palace – and she doesn’t want to tell him the child is his because of his status and their incestuous relationship.
Trailer 3 is of MeiNiang in the palace, and all the other concubines planning against her.
There’s this one scene of Li Zhi offering to take care of her – swoon – I can’t wait until they end up together whole heartedly.
