Did Mei Niang and Li Zhi sleep together?!

The past three episodes released today weren’t very action packed or that interesting – it’s going to be a lot about the hou gong, which is the place where all the concubine women live.

It starts out with Empress Wang being pissed because Xiao Fei’s child wouldn’t eat the meat that she offered him. That brat was pretty annoying, and if he had done that to me I would’ve flipped – especially if I was an Empress – to teach him a lesson. But she just let him off the hook.

Mei Niang escapes from the temple during Empress WenDe’s memorial. It’s literally a month after the last time we’ve seen her, and her hair has grown considerably – unrealistically long. If you’re a normal girl like me and most of the world’s population, your hair grows half an inch in a month, which is 1.25 cm. Mei Niang grows her hair at exponential rates, which looks to be about two to three inches in a month. But, drama.

Li Zhi – my love, stops her from escaping and offers to have her return to the royal palace. She declines because she does not want that life for her child, but suddenly, they’re suddenly ambushed by a bunch of assassins. Obviously both Li Zhi and Mei Niang get hurt – Li Zhi blocking the arrow for Mei Niang, and Mei Niang blocking an arrow for him. Li Zhi gets one in the back – and it’s the type that gets stuck there, while the one that hits Mei Niang looks to have just grazed her. Obviously it physiologically makes sense that Mei Niang passes out.

Luckily Li Ke shows up, and kills all the assassins.

Li Zhi tries to keep Li Ke with him in the royal palace but Zhang Sun Wu Ji is stopping him in every way – because he truly believes that Li Ke might usurp the throne. Zhang Sun Wu Ji is actually such a loyal chancellor but it’s just that he has too much power – but I feel like that his intentions are good. Li Zhi seeks to get rid of Zhang Sun Wu Ji.

Mei Niang wakes up from the graze of an arrow, all sick and wounded, while Li Zhi who took one in the back is walking and talking fine. Gao Yang Princess delivers her a wig for two reasons: Mei Niang is trying to stay on the down low because she plans to leave, and a woman with short hair with get a lot of attention. And secondly, drama. Obviously Fan Bing Bing needs to stay gorgeous for the remainder of the episodes.

The wig technology in the old days was so advanced that it looks like real hair, like it’s attached to her head!!! #sarcasm

  

 

Lots of screencaps because I’m in love with the headdresses. Mei Niang gets approached by Xiao Fei and Empress Wang because they know that she holds a special place in the Emperor’s heart (Li Zhi), and also they know that she escaped death so many times back then so she is a very intelligent woman (better friends than enemy with a very smart person right?).

Mei Niang sees him in Cheng Qing Dian, and I’m surprised  that it’s not awkward or something because this is where they banged, this is where they slept together! Why do they act like nothing happened between them?

I had a theory that perhaps they had a sex scene or something that explained the plot a bit more, how she suddenly got pregnant without really showing how they slept together (especially logistics, re: my last post) or even became romantically involved but it was cut out by Hunan TV. I mean they did make wide shots and close-ups to cut out the cleavage right? They might have cut out the sex scene! Well… now that theory is shattered. Even if they did cut out the sex scene, it doesn’t explain how weird they’re acting around each other. They’re acting like they never banged, not like avoiding the topic, but actually acting like it never happened. I mean, if I slept with someone, I would feel awkward, or I would act slightly differently and the relationship dynamic would change for sure, but their relationship is the exact same. HOW. HOW?! I’m starting to doubt that the child is Li Zhi’s. I don’t get it. Were they both unconscious when they banged?

Mei Niang offers Li Zhi advice on how to get rid of Zhang Sun Wu Ji – by not acting like family and treating him as an elder (as for all the other chancellors that served his father before too), but act as an Emperor and his chancellor. Upon hearing this, Li Zhi takes action and summons Li Yi Fu, a chancellor that helped Mei Niang before.

During chao ting, the Emperor acted differently and even gave someone the death penalty.

I love them both – together, or one on one. They’re both such beautiful people and I really hope they have a good ending together… I mean it’s completely possible, because… drama, right? I know that this is a Chinese drama and not a Taiwanese drama and most of the plot will focus on the hou ting and the politics but I wish that there would be some love scenes between Li Zhi and Fan BingBing… There were a lot between Mei Niang and the previous Emperor anyways – and there’s so much more chemistry between them anyways. I’ll let go of the huge plothole of how she got pregnant if I get more scenes between the both of them because the plot is dying down and it’s much more skimmable again.

Oh my gosh they’re trying to get rid of her child already – but maybe this is part of the drama – it’s very not historically correct already, so maybe she really loses it, and that’s when she loses her Tai Fei title, which restricts her to be Li Zhi’s elder.

I don’t know man, I just hope they get to the point faster in the next few episodes and don’t make it drag on so much.
