10 episodes left in Empress of China!

Empress of China is 82 episodes, meaning that this drama will end next week!!! Meanwhile I’m looking for a good drama to watch so if you have any suggestions, please let me know! There weren’t any surprises in this episode -it’s what we saw in the 72 trailer, but just more elaborated. Unfortunately they didn’t show all the parts that was in the 72 trailer (I hate when they do that!!!) and we have to wait until 73 to find out why Mei Niang was dancing with Li Ke.

It starts with Mei Niang spotting Zhong Er by the river. He was playing very close to the ledge, and she was afraid that he would fall in. She saved him, but he ran away, back to his home.

Turns out he was afraid that Mei Niang would be mad about last time – where she stood up for him but he lied about the situation because Consort Xiao had told her to. Mei Niang forgave him, and understood that it would be hard for a child to stand up to Consort Xiao.

Zhong Er’s mother, and Mei Niang sit down for a cup of tea. Mei Niang was very impressed by this mother, as she has nothing but her son, but because of her son, she is strong. Mei Niang told them that if they ever needed anything, just to let her know.

And here we have another scene between between my beloved Li Zhi and Mei Niang. I don’t get why he always has this look of pain on his face, even when she’s chosen to stay. He tells her that he’s very happy that she’s stayed, and he needs her by his side. He sounds very clingy, borderline the type that would commit suicide if you ever left him. Mei Niang comforts him, and tells him that she’ll stay for him, because she’s touched by how much he’s done for her. But you can tell by Fan BingBing’s amazing acting that even though she means it, she’s just saying to win over Li Zhi’s heart to get revenge over Empress Wang.

Man I just want some normal scenes between them. I get why the Emperor Li Zhi is so caught up. This is a woman he’s loved since he was 12 years old, and he’s gone through so much to finally obtain her – not her heart but only her physical self. I guess he would have some distrust and insecurities, but it makes him seem slightly more unattractive now. And also, he puts her in front of all else – he’s the Emperor – he has more important things to tend to but his priority is Mei Niang.

Mei Niang successfully predicts that Empress Wang plans to adopt one of the Emperor’s existing sons to stabilize her position as Empress. Mei Niang visits Li Ke and the sons, because Li Ke is their teacher.

Li Ke is so angry, and rightly so. He respected Mei Niang before, as she loved his dad so much, and did so much for him. He couldn’t understand why she could so easily be with another man, his younger brother. He was so shocked, and indignant, and disappointed in her. Mei Niang merely responds with “Love is temporary, but power is forever”. She’s changed. He asks her what she needs, initially refusing to help. Mei Niang wanted to know which son that Empress Wang wanted to adopt.

Meanwhile Empress Wang knows that Li Ke and Mei Niang meet up one on one, and plans to use this to make the Emperor jealous.

Episode 73 Trailer, Spoilers!

It appears that Empress Wang tries to kill Zhong Er’s mother, to adopt him.

And here we have a scene where the Emperor accuses of Mei Niang of using him to get revenge on the Empress. Even though it’s true, it’s so heartbreaking to watch since they’re my OTP and I hate to see them fight. He accuses her of getting with Li Ke and she denies it. THEN WHY WERE YOU DANCING WITH HIM?! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!

In the heat of the moment, she faints.

Mei Niang finds out that it was Princess GaoYang that made her lose her children… and proceeds to kill her. My god this is such a sad scene. I wonder how far along it is, since there’s only ten episodes left.
