There’s less than a week left

I can foresee how this drama will go… and it’s not good. Not good at all. Since it airs two episodes a day, this drama will probably done by Thursday. I’m over it. I’m already looking for something new to watch when this ends.

Jiang Xin and Bai Lang find out the director that tried to sleep with her (Director Cao) has recruited most of the workers in the Ye family factory for a higher salary. He wants to steal Jiang Xin’s new fabric material recipe. Jiang Xin already had many orders, if she couldn’t deliver them on time, the Ye family factory will still close down.

At this point, Jiang Xin and Bai Lang actually do act like a married couple. I’ve seen many married couples not talk much, and they just do what they’re obligated to do or what they’re responsible for. Like how Jiang Xin doesn’t talk much, but she puts on Bai Lang’s jacket because to her, it’s her responsibility as his wife.

Bai Lang tells her that the only person that can help her is factory owner Mr. Leung. Only he has the machinery for the Ye family factory to such a great amount of fabrics for the orders. The problem is Mr. Leung hated Grandpa Ye because they had some business disagreements.

Jiang Xin waited for Mr. Leung for three hours – Mr. Leung refused to help Jiang Xin unless she agreed that Grandpa Ye was a dog. Jiang Xin refused.

When you thought you saw the last of those two, Jie Wen and Du Xiao Han (who is Ye Xin, if you don’t remember) are back. Unfortunately. Du Xiao Han was saved by this elderly lady. When Du Xiao Han got better, she refused to receive more help from this elderly lady, so she left her residence.

Which coincidentally allowed her to witness Jie Wen get shot by the Japanese soldiers, and him falling into the water. What are the chances of her leaving at that moment, and being in the right place in Shanghai to witness all of that? Very high, apparently.

Jie Wen acts like an entitled brat at the elderly lady’s residence. He refuses to take his medicine, he refuses to comply with anything and acts like an ungrateful a*shole even though he would’ve died.

I would like to raise two points.

It is extremely difficult to shot a gun with one hand. I am just saying. I thought that this was common knowledge, you cannot aim with one hand.

I would also like to note that if your hand got shot by a gun, it wouldn’t be so dexterous. I mean, normal gun power would shoot a bullet through your hand. But, let’s assume that it’s a sh*tty gun because I mean, 1930’s right? That bullet would’ve still ripped through her tendons, muscles, and bones, and her hand wouldn’t be capable of such fine motor skills. I am juuuuuust sayin’ #kinesiologydegree.

Jie Wen has temporarily lost his sight because of the impact of falling into the water. Du Xiao Han wants to nurse him back to health while she can. She acknowledges that she loves him a lot, but knows that Jie Wen wouldn’t love her because of what she’s done in the past. Xiao Han feels like she’s not good enough for Jie Wen.

I don’t know when it switched in the drama where Xiao Han is more likeable than Jiang Xin. She’s very honest with herself and she’s come to terms to who she is and what’s happened. At least she’s moving on from the past and trying oto change into a better person.

Bai Lang reunites with Yao Mei Er. He gifts her earrings and everything, and even invites him over to his estate.

He gave her Jiang Xin’s dress, and also the perfume that he once gifted her.

Bai Lang even agreed to apologize in front of reporters and propose to her in front of many reporters (and to be rejected) – but that never happened. After Bai Lang agreed to doing all those things, Mei Er asks why he’s doing all of this: he wanted to arrange a meeting with her godfather, Mr. Leung.

Meanwhile Xu Guan and Shi Tou are both fighting for Chen Hua’s love LOL. It’s so adorable. Chen Hua complimented the both of them, and they both took it the wrong way. Xu Guan and Shi Tou thought about it all night, until they decided to go to the temple again for advice. Then Chen Hua shows up, to figure out what the heck they were doing, and ask about her own love life. I mean even Chun Hua has a better love story than Jiang Xin -_- the producers really dun goofed.

In a meeting with Mr. Leung, Mei Er finds out that Bai Lang was only so good to her because he wanted to save Jiang Xin’s factory and business. She started crying. Mr. Leung said that he’d provide the machinery on one condition – to kneel in front of Mei Er and apologize.

Jiang Xin intercepts this and refuses for Bai Lang. She effectively pisses off Mei Er and now the condition has escalated that Bai Lang has to spend a night with Mei Er in order to receive the machinery.

OK if Jiang Xin had only called her Grandpa Ye a dog, or just allowed Bai Lang to kneel and say sorry. I mean, those are just words to say (but you know, drama integrity is different from normal social integrity). SO NOW the conditions have escalated to Bai Lang sleeping with another woman – goddamn it Jiang Xin.

Jiang Xin waits outside in the cold, while Yao Mei Er and Bai Lang talk. Turns out Bai Lang protected Mei Er while she was just a budding actress, and she’s fallen in love with him ever since, but he’s never given her a chance. Mei Er requests that after their night together, he makes her Mrs. Bai, his second wife, and that she lives at the residence with him.

He apologizes to her for not returning her affections.

I feel like Mei Er’s character is really relatable. I think we all have that one friend or even that one experience where our feelings for someone were unreturned and all we could do was just persist foolishly, even though we know that we could do better, and that we should move on. She’s been waiting for Bai Lang for all these years even though she has other choices. Sigh, drama.

Bai Lang and Jiang Xin exposes Director Cao’s scheme to ruin their fabric and business.

Bai Lang is pressured by the Bai family elders to step down because he hasn’t replaced the emergency money yet. He plans to steal it from Japanese troops because he feels like the money is used to do illegal things inside China, and the Japanese troops were bad because they were partially invading other parts (but not officially in Shanghai yet).

Bai Lang acknowledged that he would need to send away Jiang Xin to ensure her safety when he sets off to steal the money.

Him and Jiang Xin have a very sweet walk, and Jiang Xin acknowledges all that he’s done for her. She doesn’t do it clearly, but i think she’s expressing love for him, but he intentionally takes it as friendship. I think that he’s trying to protect her from falling in love with him again – one, because he feels like he doesn’t deserve it, and two, because he doesn’t want her to become attached to him in case something happens to him.

I think that he’s going to get caught by the Japanese troops (it explains why he’s in worn out clothes afterwards) and he loses everything. I don’t think we’re going to get a lot of sweet Jiang Xin – Bai Lang moments anymore. I hope that he’s alive to see her get pregnant and hold the child though )’:.
