抓住彩虹的男人 THE CAGE OF LOVE EPISODE 7 & 8 REVIEW, SUMMARY, AND RECAP

Why is our female lead so dumb?

* SCREENCAP HEAVY POST *

Ok I think we are all on the same boat here. In the past two months, no good dramas have come out (I know ‘The Four’ has been popular, but I really didn’t follow it) so now we’re like thirsty travellers in a dessert and this drama is like our liquid to quench our thirst.

… Except it’s probably the most unsatisfying liquid at this point… Like a litre of warm flat Coca-Cola. Some parts are becoming unbearably boring – especially Cai Hong and Jiang Yu’s interaction. This is weird because I normally never want to skip through OTP interaction but this just goes to say how great their chemistry is.

It was so hard for me not to skip it –  so I kind of had it running in the background while I did my make-up and while I organized some stuff. I mean I have to recap this drama somewhat accurately right?

with-great-power-comes-great-responsibility

I mean I gotta do the dirty work so all y’all can skip it LOL.

Anyways, onwards:

So we start off with stupid Cai Hong interrogating Jiang Yu again about trying to mess up the evidence with Bookkeeper Cai so that she couldn’t find evidence. I call her stupid because there seriously isn’t any evidence that leads to Jiang Yu, and all of her accusations are based on her bias. She’s just so irritating with her accusations but she persists to work with him.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.00.04 PM

She returns the vest that she borrowed for warmth when Jiang Yu saved her on her night out.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.00.23 PM

Fei Fei witnesses this and is very jealous. She thinks that Cai Hong is trying to steal Jiang Yu away from her. Normally it’s natural to hate the second female lead (because the producers usually give her bad traits to contrast the goodness of the first female lead) but I actually quite like Fei Fei. She hasn’t really done anything all that bad, and she’s actually a very good voice of reason so far.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.00.42 PM

She even helps pass on evidence about Bookkeeper Cai’s mistress to Jiang Yu – not withholding it, even though she knows it’s to help Cai Hong.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.01.36 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.01.53 PM

Jiang Yu forces Cai Hong to go with him to find Bookkeeper Cai’s mistress, so they can locate Bookkeeper Cai together.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.02.16 PM

Fei Fei gets jealous and pissed again because Jiang Yu didn’t allow her to go with him, but instead takes Cai Hong. I mean I really can’t blame Fei Fei for getting pissed. Cai Hong’s dad ruined her whole family’s life, and killed her adopted father, and now her brother/crush is so obviously falling in love with her?!

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.02.28 PM

Meanwhile Shao Tian finds out from Fei Fei that Jiang Yu and Cai Hong are headed to find Bookkeeper Cai’s mistress.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.04.39 PM

By the time that Jiang Yu and Cai Hong gets there, Bookkeeper Cai’s mistress is already dead.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.05.28 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.05.55 PM

Our female lead is dumb enough to somehow twist this around to think that Jiang Yu murdered the mistress – thinking that he lead her here so that she could be his witness, even though Jiang Yu actually presented a pretty solid alibi.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.06.30 PM

Cai Hong and Shao Tian try to report Jiang Yu again for this (with the most 廢 fei  police chief ok). The 廢 fei police chief (fei means useless and will be hereby used to refer to this police chief) tells them that he found gold-flecks in a wound in Wu Hong Da’s shoulder – and it is likely caused by a fountain pen.

Cai Hong immediately sets to find the the fountain pen that her and Jiang Yu fought over.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.11.39 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.12.46 PM

We find out that Shao Tian knew about Bookkeeper Cai’s whereabouts all along (meaning he has the money that was moved from Ling Long) and that Bookkeeper Cai was the true murderer of his mistress.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.15.03 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.16.47 PM

While visiting Shao Tian’s mom in the hospital, Cai Hong bumps into Mama Jiang, and promises Mama Jiang to go back to her house to fetch Mama Jiang’s glasses.

I just want to say… WHAT THE F*CK LOL.

So ok, wtf, Shao Tian’s mom used to work at Ling Long, and from the first episode, SHE CLEARLY WITNESSED PAPA JIANG BEING FRAMED BY WU HONG DA, and pretty much experienced firsthand how Wu Hong Da swallowed Ling Long by getting rid of Papa Jiang.

Why hasn’t she said ANYTHING to Shao Tian and Cai Hong?! Like “Hey, I know Jiang Yu’s kind of being a dick to your family, but your dad was kind of a dick to his family too, so you guys are pretty much even”. Nope?

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.18.26 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.19.09 PM

Cai Hong takes the invitation from Mama Jiang to fetch her glasses as an opportunity to break into Jiang Yu’s office to find the mountain pen.

Seriously, the nerve on this girl – she is so annoying and she’s continuously trying to pin this murder on Jiang Yu, and she has the audacity to give him attitude?!

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.20.31 PM

The fei police chief receives the fountain pen, somehow takes it as substantial evidence to prosecutin Jiang Yu to murder and orders his police staff to surround the Ling Long office.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.22.09 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.22.10 PM

The fei police chief gets destroyed by Jiang Yu immediately during the public questioning with three reasons:

1) If there were gold flecks in the shoulder, why is this fountain pen undamaged?

2) How can they determine that this fountain pen is his? (Because Cai Hong unlawfully stole it)

3) Given the time that has passed, it is perfectly possible for someone to purchase a gold fountain pen as him to frame him for murder.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.23.12 PM

Given the uselessness of the fei police chief that has no deductive reasoning, he doesn’t even try to argue this and accepts this as the truth. Like, do you not have a thought process of your own? How did you even get to police chief level? The charges are dropped and Cai Hong annoyingly yells and accuses Jiang Yu again.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.24.18 PM

After that whole spectacle, Cai Hong has the audacity to show up to work again.

Ok they try make the second female lead to look like a bitch because Fei Fei pretty much tells her to gtfo after what she did, and that she doesn’t deserve to be here, and tries to make Cai Hong look all resilient and polite, but the producers fail miserably.

I completely agree with Fei Fei. What are you still doing here?! You’re so obviously a person with bad intentions that has been throwing out irrational accusations from the beginning. After trying to throw your boss in jail for murder, you still have the nerve to show up to work?Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.25.10 PM

I swear she only has this one look throughout this whole entire drama.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.25.22 PM

I wanted to say “You go, Fei Fei!” but we all know the second female lead will never win.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.25.54 PM

Since Cai Hong somehow still wants to work there after what she did, Jiang Yu assigns her an impossible task: To deliver a document to his location. The only clue that he gave was “a tree with flowers”, or else she’d be fired.

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.26.57 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.27.56 PMBy the time Cai Hong finds Jiang Yu, she pretty much throws a tantrum, saying stuff like “Oh, you are the worse, why do you torture me? Why do you put me through this? Why are you making my life miserable?”

Like c’mon you are the one that is insisting that you work there, all you do is throw out accusations and treat him like crap, and you have the nerve to ask why he’s making your life miserable?

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.28.56 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.29.05 PM

We have a redundant scene of Fei Fei telling Cai Hong off. There are so many redundant scenes like this, I guess it’s to contrast the female leads and making Cai Hong look good, but Cai Hong really deserves it. Fei Fei pretty says what’s on my mind, except this time, it’s overheard by Jiang Yu. This pushes a wedge through Fei Fei and Jiang Yu’s relationship, because of their contrasting views of Cai Hong.
Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 11.58.46 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 11.58.52 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 11.59.39 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 11.59.42 PM

Remember the worker that got fired for contaminating the dye? He has a son that also works in the factory. This son is mentally handicapped, so Cai Hong decided to go and visit him in the inventory section. Upon getting her, she witness Jiang Yu teaching the worker’s son how to move boxes without hurting his back.

I just want to say that even the worker’s son has more chemistry with Jiang Yu because my heart melted so much when I saw how caring and patient Jiang Yu was with the worker’s son.

Anyways, because the son was slow to learn, he ends up hurting Jiang Yu’s hand.

Cai Hong brings him some medication… and somehow decides that it’d be a good time to throw out some mean words again, calling him ‘cold-hearted, a monster, a demon, evil’ etc. Do you not have better things to do? Can you be more classy? Can you not be so annoying? How can someone be nice to you if you’re constantly calling them names? I really dislike this character.

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.02.58 AM

*insert another redundant scene of the two female leads fighting again to show how resilient Cai Hong is*

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.10.31 AM

Shao Tian quits Ling Long and opens up his own fabric store – Fu Sheng.
Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.14.43 AM

Jiang Yu crashes the party during the opening ceremony and has too much to drink. Shao Tian and Jiang Yu obviously have some sort of an argument before Jiang Yu takes Cai Hong away on his carriage.

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.15.36 AM

Yo seriously Shao Tian’s mom, this is your chance to explain everything. WHY AREN’T YOU EXPLAINING EVERYTHING?!

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.16.26 AM Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.16.21 AM

Drunk Jiang Yu grabs Cai Hong while she’s trying to run away and holds her against him. This is an intimate gesture even in our day and time, so imagine back then, right? So understandably, she pushes him away, and slaps him across the face. Poor Jiang Yu’s got no game.

Cai Hong goes to Fu Sheng to accept Shao Tian’s job offer to work there after being harrassed by Jiang Yu the day before. She recognizes the guy that works there as her carriage driver that she mistook as a thief. Shao Tian justifies that the guy works different jobs – but I think this will become crucial later on in the plot for Cai Hong to realize that Shao Tian is shady. Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.19.50 AM
Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.19.48 AM

Meanwhile Jiang Yu feels a void in his life now that Cai Hong was gone – and partially he probably feels guilty for harassing her, and scaring her away.

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.22.37 AM

LOL. Dat picture doe

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.21.19 AM

But I really agree with Fei Fei every time she tries to reason with Jiang Yu.

Yes, he’s trying to get her back by his side because he obviously somewhat likes her, but what for? There’s no ending! She’s the daughter of the man that ruined your life and killed your father – there’s no way that it’s going to be an easy relationship, especially when she’s trying to pin you down for murder of her own father.

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.24.13 AM Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.24.14 AM

Jiang Yu, missing Cai Hong, decides to spy on her outside the Fu Sheng store.

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.25.58 AM

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 12.25.31 AM

Now I don’t know how long that Jiang Yu has been spying outside that store for, but he’s still there at night time and decides to follow Cai Hong and Shao Tian on their walk (I mean he sat outside all day underneath a flower tree just to spite Cai Hong so this guy’s got a lot of time to waste).

Shao Tian confesses his love to Cai Hong, and she finally accepts. She wears his handmade bracelet as like an engagement ring.

Shao Tian’s about to kiss Cai Hong, and Jiang Yu’s reaction is pretty cute. But come on – you have no right to feel jealous! It’s not like you fought for her or anything, or there was a chance for you two anyways. Episode 8 cuts off at this moment before Cai Hong and Jiang Yu kiss.

Thanks for the funny recaps again lol is it just me or is anyone else annoyed with the amount of times Cai Hong throw hurtful words at Jiang Yu and then she slowly walks away and the camera focuses on Jiang Yu’s painful expression? Lol!!!

I KNOW!!! TOO MANY TIMES. What were the producers thinking?! She literally goes to his office out of no where sometimes just to complain and yell at him -__-

Sigh I think Zheng Shuang really ruined it. I didn’t notice that it was the same voice actors actually! Maybe it’s because Tiffany Tang isn’t annoying so the voice actor sounds a lot more elegant on her LOL
