YOU’VE GOT TO WATCH THIS TO UNDERSTAND HOW I FEEL

I am loving this drama so much at this point – it’s so cute and funny. I love the chemistry between Joe Chen and Bosco and Jia Nai Liang already, and seriously, this is the first time where I don’t hate the second male lead, and that I don’t care who she ends up with.

I powered through 5 episodes today and I’m going to summarize them in this post in 130 screencaps. It’s pretty hard for me to do a recap because they have so many little funny interactions that are kind of tedious to detail, but those interactions make up the whole of the episodes, and they’re the parts that make the drama so enjoyable. It’s like when you have to explain or describe a joke. But it really goes to show how funny and enjoyable this drama is, so I really recommend watching it!!!

Xiang Hao is the only one still imprisoned. The guards let him out and make him enter a car. Xiang Hao, thinking that the car is going to take him to the academy to sign up for cadets, gets in without questioning. But the car, is actually going to take him to a further prison just so he cannot make it in time to sign-up.

The reason for this, if you didn’t know, is because Xiang Hao is one of the competitive candidates for the leader of the Jin Yin Cadets (which is the most elite out of the Long Chen Military Academy).

Xiang Hao’s delay was obviously arranged by Shen Wen Tao’s dad, General Shen, but to his dismay, all of the other cadets plus Shen Wen Tao refused to sign up before Xiang Hao had arrived.

Xiang Hao had figured it out during the ride that the car wasn’t heading to the academy, and he knocked the two guards out of the car and managed to ride a horse to the academy in time to sign up.

I thought signing up meant literally putting your name down on a sheet of paper to indicate your interest in being a part of this academy but NOPE. Apparently you have to fight the instructors and steal the flag on their body.

LOL in this scene where Xiang Hao fights instructor Ou Yang for his flag, Xiang Hao was losing. So he decides to whip out his grenade and say “Fine, we’ll die together!!!”. Instructor Ou Yang automatically backs off and says “Ok ok, you win”.

Oh an. In the ‘last round’, all the boys gather to fight off instructors in the water. Obviously they all pass, but really this scene is just for them to all take off their shirts and show off their muscles (or lack off). Ok I must be very spoiled with seeing actors like Huang Xiang Min’s shirt off, but seriously these guys are so scrawny.

Anyways, long story short. they all become cadets of the Long Chen Academy.

Shen Wen Tao’s sister *I think her name is Xiao Yu, I could be wrong) is the worst human being in this entire world and has the personality type that I despise the most. She is so damn annoying in this drama that every time I see her I want to shake her and tell her to stop ruining my show.

She begs Shen Wen Tao in this scene to allow her to work for the academy just so she can see Xiang Hao. She’s superficial and spoiled – she barely knows Xang Hao and this is just a way for her to fangirl up close. I know she’s only a character in the drama but girls that have no passion of their own and only aim to complete themselves with a man really annoy me for some reason.

Anyways, Shen Wen Tao agree to allow her to go into the academy.

First day after getting to the academy, Bao Bao has already started off on the wrong foot with Xie Tian Jiao, one of the instructors/trainers at the academy. She wrongly assumed that Xie Tian Jiao was a man because of Xie Tian Jiao’s manly appearance and demeanour. I think Xiao Tia Jiao is so badass, but I think it’d be so hilarious if at the end of the drama she receives a completely girly make-over.

Bao Bao imitates Xiao Han and meets Li Ji Zhou – the instructor of the academy. She assumes that she only had needed to pretend for only one day (just to get the phospital papers to get Mama Chien some free healthcare), but Li Ji Zhou tells her that she must withstand 15 days probation (which is ridiculously dragged out – her 15 days is still not up by the end of episode 8…Five episodes in drama time is like a decade, ok?!).

Bao Bao slowly adapts to the strict eating schedules – where they have limited time to eat (and cannot eat after the allocated time)…

And having to train the boys as a trainer. She witnesses Xie Tian Jiao very badassingly step into the men’s changing room and telling them to stop fighting and realizes that she has to be more serious/strict as a trainer.

Again, we’re rewarded with these shirtless guys, but I think they’re  a tad too skinny. Especially Bosco. 

Li Ji Zhou and his son are afraid that Xiao Han will be an extra pair of eyes for General Xiang, since General Xiang had referred her, and Xiao Han actually has an arranged marriage with Xiang Hao. Li Ji Zhou’s son, Li Tian Han suggests that they try to get Xiao Han out of the academy ASAP,

Meanwhile, normal doctors can’t help Mama Chien, and suggest for Bao Bao to get her to specialized hospital care ASAP.

This German tradesman comes to Long Chen, originally seeking to complete a deal with Li Ji Zhou, on the behalf of the academy. Turns out that both General Shen and and General Xiang both have been soliciting the German tradesman for his firearm goods, and have been offering a better price.

Tempted by the much higher prices by the other two families, the German tradesman goes back on his word and refuses to sell at the original rate to the academy.

Li Ji Zhou was put in an awkward place – there’s no way that the German tradesman would settle for less, but there’s no way that he could possibly ask the Da Shuai (his direct boss) for more money. Either way, it’s a lose-lose situation.

Li Ji Zhou and his son come up with a smart plan to blame it all on Xiao Han (and plus, get her to leave). He puts the responsibility of negotiating with the German tradesman with her, so if the deal falls through (which it probably will), it will be on her instead, and then he could get rid of her as well.

I have never ever liked Bosco Wong as much as I have but I don’t know what it is about Chinese dramas but they make their male leads so much more desirable that TVB dramas!!! Bosco is such a gentleman in this drama – he’s more of our typical male lead – he’s serious with a gentle side.

Anyways Shen Wen Tao (played by Bosco, if you haven’t caught that yet) offers to help Bao Bao on her mission. Bao Bao and Shen Wen Tao come up with this very genius plan to get the deal to go through.

Bao Bao grabs Shen Wen Tao’s hands in gratitude and you immediately see the awkward shy look on his face that’s so damn cute. I guess if you’re a cadet in a military academy you don’t really get to interact with girls, and especially such a pretty girl such as Bao Bao too.

There’s two parts to their plans. First, Bao Bao had bribed the concierge to tell anyone that comes in asking for the German tradesman to give them Bao Bao’s room number instead. Shen Wen Tao would go on the behalf of his father to tell the real German tradesman and offer a ludicrously low price.

While our dear Bao Bao dresses up like a Westerner and pretends to be the German negotiators to fool General Shen and General Xiang. Bao Bao lifts the price to an absolutely ludicrous amount so that General Shen and General Xiang would leave.

Xiang Hao shows up to see if Bao Bao needs help closing the deal…

Except Bao Bao had already closed it! Bao Bao smugly tells them that the deal is already set, and that she doesn’t need their help anymore.

P.S. I don’t understand why Bao Bao gets to wear a nice purple uniform while all the other cadets and trainers have to wear blue?

Li Ji Zhou was shocked to hear that Bao Bao did the impossible – close the deal with the German tradesman, and he realizes slowly he cannot underestimate this girl.

We have a cute scene (that doesn’t really add to the plot) where the cadets play a joke on Bao Bao, telling her that she has to detonate the bomb on the door in order for them to pick up the firearms. Bao Bao, thinking that she would die, does it with fear and anxiety- only realizing afterwards it’s a practical joke.

You see, it’s not very amusing/funny when I have explain a joke LOL. You really need to watch this drama to enjoy all the funny/cute bits.

Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky Li Ji Zhou decides send men to hijack this car and try to steal the firearms now. Again, these firearms are very valuable/expensive, so if Li Ji Zhou can get them PLUS get Xiao Han (Bao Bao) fired, that kills two birds with one stone.

Obviously stealing from the military cadets would be hard, because the cadets managed to fight off the hijackers. And we are left with this wonderful OTP moment when Xiang Hao saves Bao Bao from being hostage:

Ah. The corniness is strong.

Shen Wen Tao’s sister (whose name that I really do not know but I really do not care) is one of the most despicable human beings ever to walk the face of the Earth of the drama world. She is so damn annoying and I hate everything about her.

She gets into the academy to work as Bao Bao’s assistant, except all she knows to do at work is to wear more make-up and to look nice to seduce Xiang Hao. She goes as far as insulting Xie Tian Jiao for being so serious at her job. If there was a character I hated… it would be her.

At this point Li Ji Zhou is very weary of Bao Bao because she’s overcome all of her given obstacles.

Meanwhile our dear Shen Wen Tao falls in love more and more with our Bao Bao. He admires her, as she’s not the typical ‘wealthy-family-raised-girl’ (little does he know that she’s a fraud).

It starts to rain, and they hurry back, except they find the CUTEST DAMN PUPPY IN THE WORLD. As it would have died from the cold and rain, they built a little house for it.

OH MY GOSH CAN THEY BE MORE CUTE TOGETHER.

I am on Team Shen Wen Tao even though Xiang Hao is more handsome.

Our dear Bao Bao is invited over to General Xiang’s mansion.

Back story: General Xiang and Xiao Han’s father has known each other for a long time, and General Xiang had met Xiao Han when she was only a little girl.

Even though General Xiang couldn’t figure out that Bao Bao was a fraud and was not the real Xiao Han, he and the house maid did notice that Bao Bao did not have a red birthmark that the real Xiao Han had.

During Bao Bao’s first day of teaching psychology class, even though she didn’t take a single course in psychology, she read all the books beforehand. Also, she used to do palm reading, so she was really good at picking out details about people and reading them.

She impressed the entire class and piqued their interest by being accurately analyzing their personality traits and background just by their little details.

The resident staff there were impressed that she had such a good day.

I’m just really confused on Instructor Ou Yang. I mean, it was clear that he saved the real Xiao Han… is she still in a coma right now? Does he know all along? Why isn’t he saying anything?! GOD I NEED TO KNOW!!!

Because Xiang Hao has the maturity of a 10 year old, he tries to bug Bao Bao by setting up little traps and pretending that she’s being haunted by ghosts. Bao Bao obviously doesn’t get affected by the dumb pranks.

This little brat of a human, Shen Wen Tao’s sister, decides to join in on the pranks. I don’t understand why it bugs me so much – it’s like, Bao Bao had done nothing to you, and you’re joining in the bullying of this girl with a bunch of dumb guys JUST SO YOU CAN IMPRESS A BOY?!

When she gets caught pretending to be a female ghost, she has no remorse whatsoever for her actions, and acts like a little spoiled asshole when she gets confronted.

Bao Bao decides to take care of these assholes by giving them a taste of their own medicine. She wears Shen Wen Tao’s sister’s ghost outfit, and lures the boys out of their room.

She then uses the acrobatic skills that she learned from her circus performance to fly through the trees, and ties up the boys up in the air after scaring them.

Shen Wen Tao’s little brat sister had ratted out Bao Bao’s plan, and Li Ji Zhou shows up, pissed at this nonsense that was happening at his academy. He was pissed that an instructor was playing these pranks on students.

Bao Bao plays it off as a psychology practice of military training of escape and getting out of ropes. Bao Bao successfully gets out of getting tied up, while Xiang Hao gets stuck into his ropes, and gets swung into the air.

Before they get home, the cadets see a projection of Xiao Hua – a cadet who died last year from an accident.

Because this is like, the 1930’s apparently, they don’t know the technology and idea behind projection, so everyone gets freaked out by this image.

Xiao Bai gets freaked out, and cutely and adorably tries to cuddle with Xiang Hao and his other teammates.

They see the projection again during shooting practice. I mean… I would be pretty angry too if someone used my dead friend as a topic to get under my skin.

Everyone thinks that it’s Bao Bao’s fault, because these projections had only happened after she arrived. They think that she’s the one that’s doing all of this, especially from her strange antics.

Bao Bao goes out of her way to interview everyone on finding out what happened.

Everyone’s quiet about Xiao Hua’s death, and even the records are very vague and unclear. It only says that the death was accidental.

Meanwhile Xiang Hao is very aggressive towards Bao Bao, and tells her not to pour salt on everyone’s wounds and not to pick at other people’s scabs.

Li Ji Zhou finds it another opportunity to throw an obstacle at Bao Bao, to find out the reasoning behind the strange projections everywhere. 

So Bao Bao uses all of her resources to find who’s doing this annoying insensitive prank. She goes with Shen Wen Tao to investigate, and Xiang Hao and Xiao Bai go with him to find out what she’s up to.

The real culprit is the girl, photographed above. She’s Xiao Hua’s sister. 

Bao Bao figured out, from her years of being in the circus, that the images on the wall were merely projections. The only possible place to get a projection was a magic shop.

From Bao Bao’s investigation and analysis, she figured out the culprit must be a young girl that works at a hospital (because the magic shop had smelled like rubbing alcohol). The boys had figured out that it was Xiao Hua’s sister from the description, and pleaded Bao Bao not to investigate further. 

Bao Bao, nonetheless, invites everyone for a ‘magic show’. She reveals that the images are merely a prank created by a projection image, and for everyone to not be afraid.

Li Ji Zhou accepted this, and let her off the hook for this obstacle.
Li Tian Han finds out from practice that Xiao Bai has PTSD, and every time he hears a loud noise from cannons, gunshots, or bombs, he faints.That’s why he always wears earplugs during practice.

The dickface decides to manipulate this to convince Xiao Hua’s sister, Xiao Qi, to get her revenge for her brother’s death on Xiao Bai, by altering his ear plugs.

Having his earplugs altered, Xiao Bai faints at the next shooting practice after being exposed to loud gunshot noises.  Seriously, we’re not done with the obstacles and it’s getting kind of dumb, but it’s a more comedic drama that’s not very serious, so I guess it’s ok that it’s redundant.

Anywas Li Ji Zhou sets this as ANOTHER obstacle for Bao Bao to cure Xiao Bai with her psychology skills. 

Bao Bao FINALLY finds out from Xiao Qi how Xiao Hua had died. It was a practice for the Jin Yin Cadets (which are the more elite cadets of Long Chen) to disarm bombs.

For some strange reasons, real bombs were used, and Xiao Hua had died during this practice. It was Xiang Hao’s idea to participate, so Xiao Qi blamed him.
Long story short, Bao Bao goes to Xiao Bai, Shen Wen Tao, and Xiang Hao, and she is unable to find out the entire story behind Xiao Hua’s death.

Everyone is tight lipped and refuses to speak about the accident, and Bao Bao could only persevere in order to try to heal Xiao Bai.

IF YOU AREN’T WATCHING THIS DRAMA, YOU NEED TO START NOW!!! This is such a good drama that my recaps really don’t do the comedic parts justice, I can only summarize the plot and recap. It’s getting cuter and cuter because the male leads are falling more and more in love with Bao Bao.
