This might be on my top five drama-list of all time

This is seriously one of the cutest dramas ever. The bullying of Bao Bao reminds me of San Cai being bullied in Meteor Garden, Bao Bao’s strong smart female lead character reminds me of Xue Wu in Lan Ling Wang, and the bromance between the guys reminds me of Hana Kimi. This is SUCH a funny and sweet drama – I really recommend any one to watch it.

The actors inside look like they’re having so much fun too – especially Jia Nai Liang who plays Xiang Hao. Honestly I really can’t summarize and explain the funny scenes and the dialogue is hilarious – I think sometimes he probably improvises too because sometimes he just adds on really hilarious things onto the ends of his sentences. Sometimes if you watch the other actors that are trying to look unimpressed/serious, you can sometimes catch them trying really hard not to laugh (I saw it a few times with Bosco). Long story short, WATCH THIS DRAMA! I really cannot express the funniness and cuteness in my recaps ok?! I haven’t been in love with a drama like this for a while. I think if you’re not watching the drama yet, you’ll get how funny it is with the screen caps – everyone’s overexaggerated expressions remind me of a cartoon instead of a drama.

We pick up with where we ended with, where Bao Bao was commanded by Li Ji Zhou to ‘cure’ Xiao Bai of his PTSD. Bao Bao’s obviously no expert in psychology, tries out hypnosis to try to cure Xiao Bai. Xiao Bai and Xiang Hao are both very annoyed with Bao Bao’s insistence to find out about Xiao Hua’s death (ok so many Xia-prefix names) so they decide to play a prank on her.

Xiao Bai decides to put his slipper on his head, and runs around campus pretending to be hypnotized and crazy. He wreaks havoc on the campus and gets himself in trouble. Xiao Han, feeling responsible for his condition, offers to take his punishment instead.

Xiao Bai and Xiang Hao both feel really bad for causing Xiao Han to take their punishment when she genuinely wanted to help and cared about Xiao Bai. She was forced to do 10000 metres on an obstacle course as a punishment.

At the end of it, Shen Wen Tao did it with her to encourage her to keep going (if she had stopped, the punishment would not have counted). I am totally team Shen Wen Tao. I haven’t been on the team of second male lead for so long (only for my favourite dramas!!! Like Yu Wen Yong in Lan Ling Wang, Hua Zi Lei in Meteor Garden, and Jiro in Hana Kimi… DO YOU SEE A PATTERN?!).

Shen Wen Tao is so damn sweet and noble – I never found Bosco Wong attractive at all but he has become so likeable in this role. Anyways, Bao Bao faints from overworking (I do not know why female leads faint so damn easily in dramas) and Shen Wen Tao catches her in his arms in the most gentle 溫柔 manner.

Xiang Hao looks on in guilt and concern. 

Shen Wen Tao shoots him a manly but deathly glare.

Shen Wen Tao blames himself for not protecting Bao Bao better… even though he’s really done a lot.

We also get a six-pack scene of Shen Wen Tao. To be honest, he’s a little bit too skinny and scrawny I think, but maybe some other girls might like his body type??

Bao Bao recovers from her sickness, and decides to bug Xiang Hao again about the death of Xiao Hua. I really dislike when female leads do this thing when they do that self-sacrificial thing where they harm themselves for the sake of the greater good of someone else. Anyways, she stands outside in the cold and waits for Xiang Hao to come out and tell her while she shivers.

Shen Wen Tao comes out and brings her a jacket, and Xiang Hao comes out and tells her that she wins, and that he’ll tell her everything.

The story of Xiao Hua’s death: Xiao Hua was one of their close friends, and one time the Ji Yin cadets (the more elite cadets of the academy) were doing bomb training, and the Xiang Hao convinced Xiao Hua and others to join to ‘show off’ their bomb disarming skills during practice.

Somehow, during the practice, the bombs became real (when they shouldn’t have, it’s just practice) and Xiao Hua had died because they had taken it lightly since they thought they were fake bombs.

After sharing their story, Xiang Hao and Shen Wen Tao agree to force Xiao Bai onto the battlefield again and recreate the situation. Xiao Bai finally acknowledges that it was an accident, gets over his PTSD, and passes the exam without ear plugs.

:’) such bromance.

Cute side story one: Bao Bao impresses Ou Yang Fei and the other instructor with her dart skills (since she used to be in the circus) while they could barely hit the targets. It was pretty funny, and it’s so refreshing to see a strong and smart female lead.

Oh my gosh. The real Xiao Han explained! I was always wondering if Ou Yang Fei had known that Bao Bao was an imposter because he saved the real Xiao Han but turns out this one is in a coma. I am dreading for that episode when shit hits the fan and Bao Bao gets in trouble.

Cute side story examples: When the other cadets (other than Shen Wen Tao and Xiang Hao) sit around and chat and play games (with the tape on their face). They’re just too adorable and the cast seems so fun.

Li Ji Zhou receives a generous donation from a cadet’s father. This man is known to get his money in illegal ways (drugs, prostitution), and Li Ji Zhou is known to pocket most of that money instead of contributing it to the academy.

The word gets out about this, and the contribution is stolen from Li Ji Zhou’s desk. Li Ji Zhou demands that Bao Bao finds it, or again, she will be kicked out of the academy during her probation period.

SO, Bao Bao sets up a trap for the thief. She spreads the word that there is another contribution again in Li Ji Zhou’s office, except that this time it’s armed with an alarm, and her, Xiang Hao, and Shen Wen Tao are all on standby.

The thief falls for it, and triggers, the alarm. Bao Bao, Shen Wen Tao, and Xiang Hao all chase him.

Ok so I really have no clue how long that they chased this thief for, but seriously? LOL. How did it turn from night time to daytime? Did you guys chase for a full 5 hours?

They find out that the thief is Du Feng, and that he stole the money because the orphanage that he grew up in needed money for the kids. It was for a noble reason, that they all thought that even though he had committed a crime, it was justified.

Bao Bao decides to leave the academy rather than give up Du Feng and his noble crime. Li Ji Zhou gladly sends her off, and she packs up her things to leave while everyone’s standing by.

She also decided to grow a set of bangs that came out of nowhere.

On her way down, the cadets all saluted her, and it just showed how respected she was amongst them. It was definitely a heart-wrenching moment :'(.

Before Bao Bao leaves, Xiang Hao steps in and takes the fall for the stolen money. Xiang Hao is thrown into jail while Bao Bao is allowed to stay.

In between here is a really cute scene of Bao Bao visiting Xiang Hao in his jail-cell and he acts in a cute douche-baggy manner, asking her to thank him. He pulls off the immature silly character so well that I’m always laughing at his scenes.

Shen Wen Tao steps in to save Xiang Hao. He forces the cadet (whose dad had given the donation) to write down all the amounts and the frequency of the donations. The purpose of this is to prove two things: Li Ji Zhou accepted a bribe to accept an inadequate student as a cadet, and that he pocketed a lot of the donation instead of giving it back to the academy.

Li Ji Zhou backs down and reverses the charges against Xiang Hao.

Li Ji Zhou backs off, and releases Xiang Hao from prison. Bao Bao and the other cadets welcome him back outside of the prison, and Xiang Hao prompts her to be grateful that he tried to take the fall for her. Bao Bao mysteriously says that she’ll return his favour later on that night.

The perverted and silly Xiang Hao thinks that by that, he’s going to ‘get some’ that night and he works out like crazy to prepare for… well, getting laid.

Turns out Bao Bao just wanted to cook him dinner. Devastated, he didn’t eat it fast enough, so his bros took it and ran off with it before letting him have even a piece.

Pretty much this screen cap sums up his entire character and behaviour during this drama. So handsome…. yet so silly.

Ok must add that during this time there is some character side story of Li Tian Han (this human piece of filth) trying to woo Xiao Qi (Xiao Hua’s sister). Their side story is probably the only part that I really hate in this drama because I dislike both their characters so much, but, drama.

This doesn’t really add to the plot but I really just wanted to screen cap Joe Chen’s smile – she just looks so pretty and sweet when she smiles. I think she looks the prettiest than I’ve ever seen her in any other drama.

Another disgusting sidestory about this human piece of filth trying to woo Xiao Qi.

*vomits inside mouth*

Du Feng invites Bao Bao for dinner at his orphanage, to thank her for not reporting him as a thief. The other cadets self-invite to this.

Bao Bao, wearing a suspiciously modern-looking beret, has a little bit too much to drink with the boys, and get the earring that was gifted to her by her father stolen by Xiang Hao.

Xiang Hao reveals that he’s got her earring, and he immaturely runs off with it. Ok this guy is like a kid at getting a girl’s attention.

Bao Bao tries to take it back out of his uniform while Xiang Hao is showering, and Xiang Hao confronts her for being a thief. She demands that he returns the earring, and ends up ripping off his bottom towel LOL.

Their reactions afterwards are priceless – Bao Bao tries to keep a straight face and walks away, Xiao Bai is shocked, and Xiang Hao looks like he’s just lost a million dollars LOL.

Li Ji Zhou tries to get rid of Xiao Han and the other cadets (yet again… it’s like Sylvester and Tweety) by sending them on a mission to deliver materials for the Da Shuai on the frontline. It’s a pretty safe mission, except that Li Ji Zhou intentionally notifies these bandits in the woods about the goods the cadets have, with the intention of putting them in danger or having them fail the mission. The cadets are captured by a notoriously vicious bandit called Ma Yi Yen.

Since Ma Yi Yen had shown an interest in Xiao Han because of her beauty, the cadets decided to create a trap by having Xiao Han agree to marry him.

During the ceremony, the sneaky cadets (look at Xiang Hao’s super handsome and mischievous face) added a laxative inside the alcohol. While the cadets didn’t drink any and were unaffected, the bandits had some major diarrhea.

They immediately all escape from the bandits’ capture, and go to rescue Bao Bao too (since Ma Yi Yen was trying to consummate this newfound marriage the whole time). Look at Xiang Hao cutely whistling and checking out Bao Bao.

An escaped soldier goes to notify Li Ji Zhou to tell him that that the cadets have escaped, but the goods for Da Shuai are still in the bandits’ hands.

Li Tian Han very slyly offers to go to help the cadets (you know that this human piece of filth will ruin everything).

Not much commentary to add – I just got to say – my recaps aren’t doing this drama justice – if you’re debating on which one to watch at this point, pick this one!!!
