I’m on Team ‘Villainous Japanese Guy’
Cute Japanese guy and Jin Xiu continue to have cute scenes. He tries to court her by asking her to show him around Shanghai in order to spend more time with her.
Honestly, can they get any cuter?
Finally he takes her to dinner, and offers her this most delicious-looking piece of tempura…
…as he stares at her with a gaze that could melt a diamond. You can see his happiness and contentment from his gaze. Sigh 🙂
Long Yi gets home infatuated and in love again, only to have his moment ruined by his teacher that was sitting there like a mom waiting up for her nineteen year-old to get home from her first night at the club.
His teacher demanded that Long Yi focussed on the bigger picture at hand, and asked Long Yi to befriend Zuo Zhen in order to make business deals easier.
Zuo Zhen declines to be his friend so obviously there’s only one possibly avenue and way left that you could ever ask anyone who rejects you as a friend:
You challenge them into a wooden sword fight.
Long Yi loses to Zuo Zhen in the fight and also loses the opportunity to be his friend.
Meanwhile Ming Zhu tells Long Yi that she can gain access to Mei Hua’s financial books only if he sabotages the conference for unveiling the new make-up line. She has something up her sleeve, but Ming Zhu is mostly doing it because she is jealous that this new line is headed by Jin Xiu.
The conference is sabotaged by contaminated make-up. When Jin Xiu introduces the product and tries it on the model, the make-up literally burns her face (which suspiciously doesn’t burn the hand that applied the make-up onto the face).
The media chaos that ensued after the model’s face was burned was so crazy that it rendered Jin Xiu incapable of standing that Zuo Zhen had to pick her up and take her in a backroom.
My expression to that
Like seriously? That’s all you could do when there’s chaos and there’s a whole media frenzy is to freeze and look clueless? Poor Boss Ling had to fend off the wolves while you were ‘protected’ in the back by Zuo Zhen.

Ming Zhu tries to dethrone Boss Ling from this incident – blaming everything on her. Ming Zhu tries to highlight Boss Ling’s incapability in front of the shareholders, and demands for the financial records. Boss Ling agrees to release the records to keep Jin Xiu’s job, and manages to push the release back for a few days while they investigate on who the culprit is for the conference incident.
Zuo Zhen sends Shi Hao to investigate, and finds out that Jin Ling has been buying off reporters to encourage them to report on this incident, even though Mei Hua had specifically instructed them to not do that. Zuo Zhen couldn’t manage to keep the reporters’ mouths shut, so he burned all the newspaper that day that it was released.
Shi Hao also managed to find a jar of poison that was the same poison that was added into the make-up used for the conference that day. Pretty much he was snooping inside the Yin mansion and found a vial and automatically had a Sherlock moment (even though there was no indication of what it was, and he couldn’t have seen it before, but drama).
Boss Ling brings it up during the next executive meeting. She brings out the vial, the reporters, and even the coat that Jin Ling was wearing when she was poisoning the make-up that day. Jin Ling took the entire fall for it, and ended up in jail.
I’m actually surprised that Ming Zhu took the news so well. They caught her by literally breaking into her house and trespassing on her personal property – and somehow she didn’t seem phased by that. Thank god that we have laws in place that renders evidence obtained unlawfully unusable.
Long Yi intercepts a car taking medicine to the Chinese soldiers fighting on the frontline against the Japanese. One of the drivers of the car – who appears to be the same man that was at the bombing of the opening of the Japanese restaurant, manages to escape the Japanese soldiers after he bombs the car. He runs away, and decides to break into a house to stay low from the Japanese.
Again, what is with these people and their lack of fear after having their private property broken into? Mei Hua is shocked for like 30 seconds after realizing that there was a ‘stranger’/acquaintance in her house unexpectedly and she shrugs it off like no big deal.
Turns out that Mei Hua was manufacturing and spending money on making medicine as a favour for this guy. She agreed to help him one more time to manufacture more medicine, because the car was blown up and the soldiers need medicine. They decided to ship it by ship (sew punny) because it would be less likely to be intercepted.
This conversation was coincidentally overheard by the spineless and most annoying manager, who reported this all to Ming Zhu. Ming Zhu obviously relays this to Long Yi.
Long Yi pulls the strings and bribes the police commissioner to check all the ports of everyone.
This puts a hole in Boss Ling’s plan, because she planned to ship it. Now she can’t, when there are police checking inside every shipment to find discrepancies between the declared item vs the item actually inside.
So she decided to use Jin Xiu to convince Zuo Zhen to do an ’emergency’ shipment. Zuo Zhen is less likely to get searched because he’s a big boss (and of his angry sociopath reputation) and also it’s an ’emergency’ shipment so the police wouldn’t have a scheduled search to go to him.
They did search Zuo Zhen in the end, but luckily Zuo Zhen hid all the medicine in barrels within the water, and so the police wouldn’t find anything aboard. They successfully shipped the medicine off, but not before Zuo Zhen chastised Boss Ling for using Jin Xiu.
Long Yi waits patiently outside of Jin Xiu’s residence to ask her out to a charity auctioning event.
You see?! That’s how you do it. Not break into her house and wait inside, but wait outside ok?
His teacher witnesses how protective Long Yi is of Jin Xiu, and how he’s changed because of her (for example, saying that everyone is equal, both Chinese and Japanese), pissed his teacher off.
And Andy Lau is mad, he’s mad.

Andy L- er, I mean, his teacher, demanded that there are no distractions or obstacles to the Japan empire, and demanded that Long Yi was to murder Jin Xiu.
And when Andy Lau wants you dead, you’re dead.
Ok c’mon you cannot tell me you can’t see the resemblance between Andy Lau and the teacher.
The episode ends with Long Yi stepping out of the car and Jin Xiu looking back, and him shooting at her. Ok let’s be realistic here, we’re not even at the halfway point, and it’s our female lead here, so she obviously doesn’t die, and this is some cliffhanger. I haven’t watched ahead but judging by the comments, Jin Xiu and another girl must have gotten switched in the process.
😀 It’s actually such an exciting feeling when you have lots of drama episodes to catch up on… Weew.
Deer Drama 
Yay finally a recap! I went on weibo and surprised on the number of villainous Japanese guy supporters out there lol, despite of what he did in recent episodes… People still love him. Even sympathise with him especially knowing his back story. I think he somehow will manage to get JX to go against ZZ and it causes the OTP to break up. He is definitely going to be the obstacle. Zuo Zhen is also sweet in his own way, but he is creepy sweet. ZZ is always stalking JX (however I’m surprised none of his people were around to witness JX kidnapping), and even though Japanese guy adores her, he himself or his men doesn’t stalk her and he actually seems to be busy, and ZZ seems to have nothing to do all day… I know drama blah blah lol
Onto when JX kidnapped… ZZ found out she went missing that night yet I’m surprised he didn’t go look for her himself, he also never asked her where she went. I’m sure Long Yi kept her overnight until the afternoon because when he walked her home it was in the daytime. But ZZ just turn up like nothing unusual happened. What’s up with that?

Look at episode 21, after JX gets kidnapped and Long Yi walks her home in awkward silence. He has such an adorable look!!!! Focus on his lips as he is walking her home!!! Omg *GUSH* haha that part made me blush…

KIYU- All this confusion I blame it a lot from the VERY bad editing team. We have a lot of scenes cut and kinda jumbled hence why it can be quite confusing to watch.
BTW thanks for the recap… I love them as your sense of humor makes it so much more easier to watch. I especially love your Andy Lau reference. The teacher does look like him though not as charismatic as Andy himself 🙂

Oh my god… Long Yi has gone psychopath… Think he rapes Ming Jue. Glad he doesn’t do that to JX. Gotta feel sorry for Ming Jue. Not sure I like Long Yi anymore. He is getting well pissed off prob the fact JX is with ZZ now….

OMFG…. I JUST WATCHED IT… I got so sad for Ming Zhu… that scene completely ruined Long Yi for me… I can’t even T_____T why does he have to do that?!!!

Hahahaha I know right! It’s like he took a different turn! I thought he wouldn’t even touch another woman! But men will always be men… Wait till he finds out JX is with ZZ! Poor Ming Jue… No one can save her… Long Yi has always been cruel to other people, it’s only when he is with JX that we see a softer side to him. But I find it so wrong that he looked at Ming Jue and thought of his ex lover then wants to rape Ming Jue… That’s so twisted.
I don’t like ZZ and JX Couple scenes. I think ZZ is sweet but kinda annoys me when he always say your my woman, you forever be mine Blah blah I find it so unsexy lol, if my man said that to me I be like wtf lol…
And I want to have a moan at JX new hairstyle. I don’t like it, makes her look too sophisticated and not as innocent.. I suppose that is the whole point since she isn’t innocent anymore..

LY doesn’t respect MZ the way he did for JX. Due to LY’s emotional and physical needs, the similarity of MZ’s eyes with JX only served to remind LY in memory of his ex-lover. Psychologically, LY forced himself onto MZ to satisfied his needs. LY’s state of mind is very vulnerable, he is susceptible to becoming an aggressor or a victim himself.

I mean if Ming Zhu resembles the woman he loves… and he’s shifting his feelings towards his old love to Ming Zhu… shouldn’t he be nicer to her??!!!

If MZ reconciles with her sister sooner, things will not go that far. Only JX can save her from Long Yi. I think at the end MZ finally realizes how important the family means to her.

Ur right, they will reconcile later though… How far in the drama I don’t know.. But there is a scene where they sit at a table and they hug each other with a lot of tears in MZ’s eyes. I’m surprised upto this point she still blames JX for all the misfortune happening to her. I’m so excited looking at tomorrow’s trailers, LY will finally know that JX is with ZZ. He will do anything to get her.
What bothers me is how much editing has been done to this drama. There are so many scenes that literally just stop abruptly then go to next scene. I think with one of the trailers we see a shopping bag or something blown up whilst JX is shopping… That was suppose to happen in 25/26. But it seems to have skipped? It’s funny how sometimes they drag out certain parts and then like fast forward other scenes. Some scenes leave me scratching my head like eh what happened…

Sometimes the preview shown doesn’t really happen in the next episodes. As long as MZ maintain her hatred toward JX, it wIll not help the situation. I think the gas blow up in the bag while JX is shopping is most likely a part of the plan to kidnap JX. Preview tomorrow is indeed exciting. MZ insults JX about sleeping with ZZ. LY slaps MZ for criticizing JX. JX is pregnant. 😊

Ah thanks DEDE, I found it on youku. Wonder if that is actually gonna happen in ep 27. Thought LY would be mad about it, but he still crazy about YX. Well at least he doesn’t treat her like shit so I suppose YX will be safe. I knew JX was gonna get preggars at some point in the drama. Now I’m wondering earlier on in drama she said she wanted to be strong to protect ZZ back, I wonder if her holding a gun in his face is an act. Hmmm

In the trailer, it seemed JX’s been missing or left Shanghai at some point. She misunderstands and believes ZZ is the killer of her family. Holding a gun to his face may or may not be an act but it shows that she is a stronger woman with no hesitation to shoot even her loved ZZ. In the contrary, MZ is weak because she couldn’t even take a shot pointing a gun to LY.
